    Engineer Bill

I agree we need more Engineer Bills for the kids, but there was a part of his show that couldn't be done now. My husband showed me a clip he found online, and Engineer Bill was talking to two kids that were guests, and he was asking them what their name was, their address, where they went to...

    True Blood Season Premiere

Did anyone see the new True Blood show that was premiered yesterday (Sunday)? I thought it was quite good. The new vampire teenager that Bill has on his hands looks to be a good story line. I'm not very happy where Lafayette is now. That's enough spoilers, I guess.:p Tell me how you liked it.

    Tornado Season

I'm not sure who was playing the baseball game in the midwest my husband was watching this weekend. The cameras were taking picture of a giant funnel almost reached down to the ground. Then they resumed the game and never said another thing about it, so it must not have touched down.

    Engineer Bill

Engineer Bill was a TV host dressed in railroad clothes, and he had a big old miniature railroad for his set. He was kind of like Capt Kangaroo, I guess, but I liked Bill much better. He would introduce cartoons, but he also had some things he'd do every day. He would play "red light, green...

    Engineer Bill

I don't know if any of you East coast kids got a taste of this West coast kid's TV icon, Engineer Bill. He passed away last Sept at 97, and many of us who just found out are in a tad bit of mourning. Anyone have any Engineer Bill memories?

    Angels and Demons

It would be AMAZING if the Catholic Church, along with all Christian-based religions got past the "heresy" and "how interesting" layers, to an acceptance of history as it is.

    Another Hate Crime :-(

I agree wholeheartedly. Teaching kids the "golden rule" has it's limitations. "Knowing where you end and another person begins" takes in the whole of humanity, I think.

Which Show Would You Bring Back?

LOL! That's for sure. Some people love the Brady Bunch, but not so much for me. I sat through the show with my little brothers, and then with my kids, and then they brought it back again! Aaaarrrrggghhh!

    Another Hate Crime :-(

I saw one of the FBI spokespersons on the news, and I think he put it rather well. I'll try to paraphrase: people involved in hate groups or other unsavoury things like that still have their civil rights. It's not illegal to be a Nazi, and until something overt happens, like the other day, the...

Which Show Would You Bring Back?

Good question, but kind of hard to answer, as there are so many. With all the different channels showing reruns of old shows, it's cool to watch the old shows. I even saw AstroBoy (my last cartoon hero before puberty kicked in) a few weeks ago. If I had to choose, I think it would be The...

    Summer Meals

I like to do that as well! I usually bring back a bag or two of stuff I've never seen before, to my husband's consternation.

    Another Hate Crime :-(

I heard that the old man was known as a member of the American nazi party for some time. I think the rifle he shot the guard with, was so old it was untraceable. I guess that means he bought it before registering guns. It's serial number had either been filed off, or could simply have faded...

    Angels and Demons

The Da Vinci code as a movie was good, but not great; nothing to write home about. BUT, it exposed some very important things to the general public, regarding "lost" Biblical history, "lost" Crusade and Catholic history, and "lost" truths about Mary Magdalene. That's what made it a great movie.

    Very strange casting

I meant "goon" as extremely bad-mannered, a bully. Sinatra used to beat people up with his "security" close by, to make sure S. was the winner. Or, he'd tell his "security" to beat someone up, and he'd watch. Perhaps I should have said "goonish", didn't mean to offend anyone, is that better? I...

    Tornado Season

I have relatives in Omaha. A couple of years ago they had a "high wind warning" that blew the trees down to the ground (none of them snapped). I'm used to that on the coast, but it seemed really frighten-making to me. Last visit I was alone in the house watching TV when a tornado warning came...

    Tornado Season

Denver is usually one of the hubs we come into when flying , and you can tell that Denver is near by the dips and little shudders the plane starts to make. You guys have air patterns (whatever you call them) that remind me of home on the Coast!

    Summer Meals

Maybe because lots of West Coasters dearly love artichokes is the reason you guys have been deprived of them? Sorry bout that! We can even find perfectly fine jars of artichoke hearts in the grocery outlets...maybe you could ask your store manager about ordering some, predicated by the fact that...

    Kung Fu's David Carradine Dead

I'm sure it must be a repeat, as I watched it about 1:00 AM. Larry King had a really nice tribute show about David Carradine. The folk that were there seemed to be good friends and they had some heartfelt things to say about David. Catch it in a rerun if you can.

    What to rent?

Tropic Thunder I think it was on HBO that we saw Tropic Thunder. Robert Downey (who was excellent), Ben Stiller, Steve Coogan, Jack Black, Nick Nolte, Tom Cruise, and several others, made up a very good ensemble cast. There are some very bloody (yet funny) special effects, and I wouldn't let a...
