    Our Favourite Local Restaurant...

The Bay Street Grill is located on scenic Bay Street, in a section called "Old Town", is our fave local restaurant. The staff is efficient and friendly, the decor is top-notch with great old wooden floors and booths, alot of old prints and metal-work decorations on the wall, and a cozy...

    What would you make?

Wow, there are such neat ideas! I've wanted an overhead pot and pan rack for forever. I love Lazy Susans, they are great on a table or in a cupboard.

Who is your favourite late night host?

In our opinion, Craig Ferguson wins by a mile. He is clever and quick, and he's also a good interviewer. How about you?

    Going to the gym

Like Taggart, the complex we used to live in had an exercise and billiard room right next to the pool. It was so cool to just walk to the community room and get your exercise there. Now, living by the ocean, I don't belong to the gym, I get my exercise on the beach.

How Would You Like Your Mother-In-Law...

She sounded like a real sweetie, Nam. It's nice when in-laws can get along. My father and grandmother never had a cross word, all the time I knew them. She was some lady, my grandma.

    How Many Hours?

It's a given that a large bulk of your hours are spent working and devoting yourself to family interaction. It's in the remaining hours that you enjoy your leisure activities. Within the context of that leisure time, how do you apportion your hours? On a weekly basis, how many hours woodworking...

How Would You Like Your Mother-In-Law...

How would you like your Mother-In-Law to live with you? That's what is happening in the Obama household: Michelle's mom is coming to live at the White House, to help take care of the girls. I think it's a wise idea; I had my grandma living in my parents' house as a young girl, and I think it did...

Raids on Medical Marijuana Clubs to End

It shows, I think, that President Obama is quite a sincere guy; there's no reason he needed to reveal his cocaine use, yet he did. I'm expecting some enlightened changes to come from this administration regarding drug use; and of course, I"m expecting the conservative born-agains to put up a...

    Sean Penn Deserved That Oscar!

Milk was a wonderful movie; I mean I expected alot with Sean Penn starring and Gus van Sant directing. I was not disappointed! It was better than I imagined it would be. Sean Penn is one of the best actors ever, IMHO. A minimal amount of makeup, a change of hair, and he bloody becomes someone...

    Salmon & Cedar?

LOL, Kitten! Another thing folks like to do with their salmon is grill it over some fancy briquets, like mesquite. They usually put a big dill leaf (frond? ruffle?) on the side of the fish.

    Flu... RUN!

Somehow we managed to miss getting our flu shots this year, but we're OK so far on the respiratory front, fingers crossed. Anyone who hasn't tried Emergen-C, you really should. It's great to take whether you're sick or well. You can use it for a bit of an energy burst as well. But it can be a...

    Make over shows...

I haven't seen that particular show either, but the ones I have seen seem to disrespect the person being made over, talking quite rudely about the person right when she's sitting there. I don't know if this strictly qualifies as a makeover show, but I watched "You Are What You Eat" on BBCAmerica...

    Shephard Fairey Art

When we were working for Obama, hundreds of people stopped by headquarters looking for just that sticker. That was the most popular piece of campaign items and we had lots of trouble trying to keep enough to give to the people that wanted them. Perhaps the original photographer might ponder how...

    Are floating cities the answer?

I think the Netherlands have been working on this, as so much of their land is below sea level. I read a very extensive article about just this kind of thing online , a year or two ago. Sorry I don't remember where to direct you. The neatest thing about the whole floating city thing is that you...

    Salmon & Cedar?

Up here in the Pacific NW, that's a really popular way to eat salmon. If I understand correctly, they take a cedar plank or shingle (looks more like a shingle to me) and roast the salmon on it. People I know who have had it that way tell me it's very good.

    What would you make?

I have a little nook in my kitchen that would accommodate a nice rocking chair. Have you seen the prices of these chairs? Yow!!! I'd make it in a nice fragrant pine, and just a medium stain.

    Flu... RUN!

There is also a horrible stomach flu going round...run silent, run deep away from anyone who is looking green around the gills, they've probably got it. My husband and I spent the last five days or so giving it to each other. This is the first day we feel remotely human. Keeping our fingers...

    Cooking without fire

I've heard of those solar ovens, and the car ovens as well. I don't know if I'd want to eat anything that got that close to an engine! My parents used to have a "camp toaster" years ago. It was made of polished aluminum, and you placed the bread on it and put it directly in the sun. It didn't...

    Shephard Fairey Art

Remember the hilarious parody Jim Carey did of Vanilla Ice on In Living Color? He was singing "I'm white white baby"? As he said, "I'm not stupid, I just dupe it."

    What to rent?

I'm miffed at one of our video shops (we have two in town). The one closest to us won't be offering Milk. I have waited to see this movie, and they won't be getting it because apparently the owners don't want a "gay movie" in their place. I know it's their call, but I don't need anyone to...
