Here's one link that tells some about different kinds of salt: http://www.juicing-for-health.com/celtic-sea-salt.html It's quite easy to do a google search with "dangers of xxx" on things such as salt, coffee, flouride, chlorine, mold, fragrances, etc. It takes some discernment to separate...

the pleasures of cold weather dishwashing

I tend to put off doing dishes. But, then the warm water feels so soothing, that I've started doing smaller batches more often.

Do you have a "can't believe I never thought of this" idea?

I got a small dish drainer, which fits in the sink. Luckily, I have a double sink. The drips go down the drain. No more mess, and I don't have to raise my arm so high to put the dishes in the drainer.

Farmfresh, there are other choices, and healthier ones for purifying water. Potassium iodide/iodine tablets. Katadyn filters. Boiling. Or a combination. To reiterate: water from the hot water heater can be drunk if boiled and filtered. If using raw water, it ought to be boiled and run...

    Cracked Heels!!!!!!!!

Lanolin helps. So does the almond oil, shea butter, cocoa butter. I use beeswax instead of cocoa butter. I use one of those small rectangular blocks, some kind of synthetic colored thing, from the dollar stores. I used it every day in the summer and every other day in the fall. Gets the...

How do you get rid of mold?

I use vinegar or hydrogen peroxide before I resort to bleach. If you have an air purifier with an UV light, you could aim the light at the box for a few days.

These are good. How about random names? Or funny ones that don't imply a rating? I can see how long someone has been on the forum by the join date, and the number of posts is right there. How about things such as: Gathering eggs Picking cotton Going to get the mail Gathering strength...

    Internet without Satalite tv.........?!

Don't know how the reception would be where you are. I use a USB broadband card. It's a little device that plugs into the USB port on the computer. It operates on radio waves, same way a cell phone does. You'd have to check with the service providers where you are and see what they offer...

    What would you give up?

That's a tough one. I don't eat out and don't watch television. I'd write fewer letters. Maybe wear thermal underwear and turn the thermostat down one or two degrees.

    Redneck Security System

I've had men's used work boots by the front door, with no notes, for a few months. They actually have cut down on neighbors just stopping by.

    Shampoo Recipe Challenge

I haven't been able to get the mixture the proper proportions for my hair, but I've been trying to make a potion of baking soda and water. Theoretically, one makes a paste and uses it to clean the scalp. I have very long hair. Getting the mixture thin enough to go thru my hair to get to the...
