I can relate to valmom, on all the storms tracking south.
Several years running know, less snow storms in the Lake Superior snow belt than down south in Chicago.
At least or temps have been cold to steady (Which is normal for us), maybe one day since November that the thermometer edged above...
Yellowstone is a super volcano. Maybe the biggest, I think it goes off every 100,000 years or so. Supposedly effects global climate for a few years.

I don't think I would put the worms in a bin full of horse manure. But it is something you could add to the worm bin fresh. Just so it does not start to hot compost and cook the worms. (See outside they can escape if it gets to hot then move back in when it cools down..)

To season it build a fire, get yourself some thick insulated gloves. Toss it in the fire, pull it out when smoking hot and rub lard or oil on the inside and outside with a piece of steel wool. Be prepared the steel wool can catch on fire! (You want the iron that hot) move your hand...

Too bad about the crack. I am unaware of any way to repair cast iron. Since grinding it up and recasting it is not a option.

I drink Braggs Organic unfiltered AVC with the mother a couple of times a day.
A splash of AVC with equal parts honey or better yet Maple syrup and water. Yummy!

I would suggest you at least google and check out sap sacks and sap sack holder taps. I personally feel the bags are better than buckets. Keeps the sap cleaner..

I think you will be OK as long as they were dry. To much moisture could damage them.
You could alway put some in dirt know and see if they sprout, instead of waiting until you put the garden in. (Little piece of mind..;))
