Obviously you need to separate it to work on the leg. What to do depends on where it's broken. Any pics? That young, if it's in the lower leg you might be able to make a "cast" with a couple match sticks & tape. 🤔. Really need to see it.
Glad to hear you're still among the living 🤣 long...
Yeah....once I finish getting them "together" 😂
There will be several green eggs layers from this group, a couple brown. Great, actually....have several blu & brown already. Sure would love to find some hens laying really blue, not light like most all do. They lay lighter with age, too. 🤷
8 are teaching each other to eat & drink in brooder😁 Two that escaped the shell this morn are still in incubator coming alive & drying. Surprised, as one seemed weak.
@flowerbug Most hens are not happy to take in unknown chicks. Silkies being exceptions! So while she's acting somewhat broodyish, you can't bank on it! Plus night time is the most opportunistic for adding chicks. I can't see that she's "setting" a nest anywhere stable. So while that would...
My menu changed up. Using up half a cabbage, adding chorizo sausage....shrimp can be later in week. Frig & freezer diving 😁. Gonna toss some taters in there, too.
Something with shrimp....had 2 bags lounging in freezer. A 1# bag will give me a couple nice meals. Haven't had seafood in a while. May just be steamed & buttered. 😂
I don't need to go back, BTDT. Yep, my grands & families lived in the past almost all their lives. I was almost 30 when last one got electric...never indoor plumbing. Modern conveniences are wonderful but, I could manage ok if SHTF. Happy, might be a challenge 😁
Oh, yeah -- bread almost...
Did all but make the bread yesterday -- still out 😕 maybe make it today. It's rainy out & I want a BLT. :idunno just need bread.
No good news anywhere. More chicken farms losing millions of birds from flu...some not yet laying age. Welp, there's a few more months of limited egg supplies at...
I believe, suspiciously, my lavender Orp is trying to go broody. :he why not 3 weeks ago???? Before the 'bator.
Noticed her all fluffed up as I tossed some scraps to the group. Thought maybe a tiff with another hen. Next day saw her rushing, fluffed again. Began looking for a hidden nest...
4 pints of pineapple chunks. Bought 2 super ripe pineapple @$.25 ea. 🫢 Also had about 1/2 PT left for eating with my yogurt. Just thought a little bit of canned fruit would be winter good.
All good news! For eventual finish that is -- few bumps in Rd to get there ☺️ maybe they can stretch out the PT to get results. Yeah, apptmts get in your way but, that or crack a whip to make DH keep at it!!!
You know nurses are the worst patients! :idunno :barnie😁
That's such a satisfying feeling! For me, at least, when I've put food away in season, for later.
Always loved to go into the cellars at grands and see the jars full. Was just a kid but, it was somehow pretty & satisfying to me even then. They hunted small game, raised chickens, a pig, etc...
This morn it's hot coffee and....
chicks hatching in incubator....they're noisy. Going well. 😊 Heading out to milk shortly, gotta be awake first. Making cheese later today. Hope to can some ripe, discounted pineapple too. Need to make bread -- I'm out. Sounds like a cooking day
Hatching going pretty good 😊 not 24 hr yet since first broke out. Have 6 standing & 4 more almost out. The don't care for the bright light. Need to see how many more have just begun break out tho.
Exciting. They're noisy, banging around. I want to remove them & the shells but holding back...
Most of "my" eggs are pipping. The dz I bought, not as much -- although the one out & one almost out at from bought dz, as we're the 2 non fertiles🤷. Weren't shipped but from the auction. Next "project will be pen the full cream legbars for pure eggs & collect from pure BOs penned when they...
It's a little nerve wracking -- haven't done this in 2.5 yrs 🤪 but left for couple hrs and now have I totally out, another close with shell 3/4 chipped around and 10 more visibly broken spots in shells. That's halfway for showing life in there. 😄 This will hopefully be a good hatch. 26 eggs, 2...
