😁 Honestly, I'd be happy to milk for an owner while on vacay. I really only want the cream for butter. The goats give me all the milk I need, smaller to handle, easier to clean after. 🙄 I just buy butter! Goat butter is bland, unlike from cow cream.
I heard alarm, mumbled and turned it off. Went back to 😴 a friend called be & woke me back up. Fine. I'm up and at the coffee pot. Need to get out and moving.....things need to be done. Being home means I still have work to do. :old
Watch for pork sales. Boston butts here....I'll have them cut one into 3 "steaks" for me, vac seal at home. Sometimes I don't want to cook a full one. When loins go on sale again, I'll buy & slice into chops. Couple $ a# less than any already cut.
I have some I need to plant....garden, pots, whatever! Garden still not tilled, up & working. I'm a month late!! Thankfully, my growing season is long. Actually some things liking warm wouldn't be getting planted until now.
Gosh, it's 46 outside...very cool here for late May. Plus it's only 66 inside 😵💫 that one little 3" opening in the kitchen window. Brrrr. Wasn't expecting the chill. So coffee sure seemed s.l.o.o.o.w. making. Could hardly wait. Had slept until 7, another surprise.
But the sun is shining. The...
Shop prices on the milk powder. You save another few $$$....even a 50#bag. You could always split with Godchild if too much at once. 😊
I keep a small bag of powdered "in case" even tho I have milk goats & some canned. Ya never know!
Today's economy makes knowing & doing older methods a good thing. Never knew or thought about the cob syrup. 🤔 Might have to give some a try -- curiosity !! Then, I don't use corn syrup. Plain old sugar. But if sweetener was around ??? I drink my coffee straight. Milk is always here, on...
@CrealCritter I want a milk cow but simply to make butter....otherwise my goats provide excellent milk in quantities I can use. The Saanen girls give 1-2 gal a day of excellent milk. Goats like a friend, herd animals & goats have an escape personality. Honestly, my milking Saanens have the...
When mine hatch, I won't let them see this! 😵💫 They'll feel deprived. Might get a coop containment this yr with the 5 young BOs who aren't getting just "turned loose". A controlled coop & run, with some free ranging in a fenced area....
@The Porch ... Did I understand, 7 children in one family? That's pretty unusual these days. 🥰 Both of my parents were from 7 & 8 children families. I'm an only. 🤷
My hen with chicks had hers out eating "dirt things" this morn, as well as some rain softened feeds by the trailer. Moms know best. Yes, cold & raining here, too.
Checking incubated eggs daily -- couple times -- for consistent temp/humidity. Good so far. Newer models have electronics with more "set & forget" controls. But this isn't an income source for me as those who hatch hundreds. That means this older model works fine for the situation.

The devastation is horrible. Amazing how one house is flattened & blown to shreds, while another stands almost untouched. I've been to E5 areas just a few days after (Homestead, FL)...to restore our properties. Lived 3 months in our camper which we drove there. No stores, power, only food...
Sunshine. Low 70s later. We were down to 52 this morning but, was ok with that. Windows open a little to cool house -- free AC -- was 72 inside at get up. Nice but, coolish.
Working every day this week, so not much else gets done beyond basics....feed/water. All tubs cleaned out &...
