From 40 roaches to 40,000 - How Insects Invaded our Home

I couldn't do it in the house. I would have to find a place far and away from my house, but raising feed for my livestock is not an unthinkable prospect. These babies are not exactly my idea of pill bugs either. Those I will encourage with living conditions under pieces of damp bark and turn...

wyodreamer - we're not in Wyo any more

Welcome to Wisconsin, @wyoDreamer! We are south-est, central-est Wisconsin of Rock County, on 30 acres. One of my biggest problems with on line sites is my zone envy. I suspect there's none where you live -- you must be solid a zone 4, to my borderline zone 5. I get to experiment a bit more...

    Mini bathroom remodel

Pictures of the 'broken' bathroom floor. No way this happened in one day. This shows problems of long standing that they never mentioned to us until last Sunday. They never thought to mention a water leak in the kitchen either. This is not a one day problem either. It's been months to have...

Victorian in need of paint and siding.

Took a few shots inside. Not where work is being done, but they show the potential of this old house.

    Water

@frustratedearthmother, your post brought a pop-up ad for in-ground pools. Look though I might, I couldn't see a cat in the pool, though.

Victorian in need of paint and siding.

Here's where we are now. Son vowed he'd get the front siding on before winter. See the snow? See the snow fall? Fall, snow, fall. Winter has come early and I'm doubting it's getting any further. See my DSO and my DOG. Enjoy the dog, love the guy!

Britesea - Living the good life in rural Oregon

Good score, @goatgurl! I'm looking for a small wood stove for my garden shed and sauna. A double furnace pipe should work just fine through a window. The important things are insulating materials behind and under the stove. I can't imagine having such a treasure and never using it. Enjoy!

Official Poll: What income-generating activities at home do you do?

@baymule, we have sold three houses on Land Contract to the great tenants that were living in them. One Quick Claim Deeded the property back to us when he got in legal trouble and left us with repair headaches far above what we'd have had without selling it. One skipped nearly a year of payments...

Official Poll: What income-generating activities at home do you do?

I collect the rents here at home. I also store the paint and cleaning supplies for new tenant readiness (always my job). Manage getting son and DH to do repair work as promised in a timely manner. I'm ready to sell out and just enjoy working on my own home anytime soon. It seems we have spent...

    Growing my own meat

I like your thinking, @baymule. Hoop housing is an excellent temporary way to provide shelter as well as a longer growing season if @Steffenkbh hopes for veggies to go along with his meat.
