I think one of the biggest misconceptions about eating healthier is that it must be salads. I'm totally throwing myself under the bus with this because it almost always ends up on the menu when I'm trying to get the family to eat healthier and we almost never actually eat it. I think just...
My neighbors were just wondering why there were more dandelions this year than last. Hmm... Do you think it's related? Probably not. But I can tell you that I hand pull my weeds and they come back significantly slower than my neighbors that use herbicides.
I definitely have no hard feelings for my neighbor's or their dog. She would only bark like that when they weren't home and how do you train a barking dog when you aren't home? She's very protective and OLD. :old On a side note, I've also guerilla-weeded their front yard before. LOL
If the nice way doesn't work, a garden hose might help. I tried to make nice with my one of my neighbors' dog (I have 4 neighbors) and the damned thing not only would bark at me CONSTANTLY through the fence but would snarl if I offered it dog treats. :rant I tried for months. :he Eventually...
We have a stone (a bear actually) that you soak for a while and then toss into the brown sugar bag to keep it from getting hard. It works well for keeping bread from becoming rock hard here in Colorado too.
Ditto here. I found I was actually spending more by trying to use coupons. One of the biggest ways I've found to save money is to roast a whole chicken (or two) a week. I get a 4 1/2 to 5 lb bird for $5 and it makes 2 meals. I usually serve it with 'taters, corn and homemade gravy. The...
For recipes, I use allrecipes.com. You can put your favorite recipes in your "recipe box", post your own recipes and create grocery lists among many other things. It is free unless you choose to have a paid subscription but I've been using the free membership for years. My favorite part is...
Tres Leches cake is the BOMB! :celebrate I'd always passed it in the grocery because it was "ethnic" :duc. Now, before ya'll get mad at me :smack, I am expanding my dietary boundaries since then and remember, I was raised on Nabisco, Kellogg's and Kraft (and oh so many others :hu). Anyway, one...
Here's a basic summation of how the wool cycle goes:
1. Sheer the sheep
2. Card the wool to remove large debris
3. Spin the wool to make yarn.
4. Use the yarn for sweaters, mittens, rugs, whatever.
Somewhere in there is washing the wool and also removing the lanolin (sheep oil/grease/sweat?)...
They'd definitely have to cross them for here too, I'd wager. The weather goes from 30's in winter to 90's and above in summer. Throw in snow, high winds, droughts and it's a mess. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE Colorado but it's a little wonky here sometimes.
Is it me or is it weird that in the article it mentions that crosses produced more milk (normally) than pure-breds? Wouldn't you think that it would be an indicator that there is potential for creating a new breed?
I've been contemplating dairy sheep. One day when I have acreage I'll be able...
The weird fluffy ball looking things are Boobah's. All of that crap was banned from my house. We usually only allow Kids PBS and when they show Barney my kids usually wander away and go play. I don't know what age goup it's intended for but if you can't capture the minds of a 2 1/2 year or a...
I'm with Drake. Tequila makes my tummy yummy.
If BBH is still sleeping, I'll take a Mimosa. I brought some champagne and OJ.
My gift for the shower coordinates with Drake's. I brought a high-performance, water saving toilet and tankless water heater. May your showers be long and HOT.
<--- Foot twitcher. I just hate the "pressure building" feeling that comes when I am not in a place where I can fidget. As we speak, my leg is bouncing up and down shaking my entire computer. :ya (closest I could find to a twitcher)
I'm an adult and I can't stop fidgeting. There are times when I can control it but if I need to do it and try to stop, it's just frustrating. How is it that teacher's are now the dictators of what a person is physically capable of?
So... um... Annabelle has been growling at me. I think she's doing it because I've had to ignore her thumping. I say had to because I can't leave her in her playpen all night and I want her to graze during the day. Of course. That means a LOT of handling where her previous owners did none...
