Hi thriftymom! :welcome Sounds like you've got a good running start on the self sufficient lifestyle. I'll bet you've got some wisdom to share, and there are some great resources for answers to questions you might have. Mighty glad you're joining in!
We are trying, with limited success this year, to grow some veggies in our garden. We try to make a double batch of something every weekend and can some of it, hoping to catch food prices before they go up. I'm looking into raising rabbits for meat (although DD is aghast that I would consider...
Haha. I really like the idea of the rubbermaid container and the plunger. Nice and simple. However, DH already thinks I'm kinda nuts, and I can just see the look on his face when I start up with a contraption like that! Actually, that would be worth trying it just to see his reaction :gig
welcome back! Sounds like you've been working hard on all fronts. I hope we can be an encouragement to you... I know these folks have been one to me. :frow
My mom always used to tell us "we're rich in the things that count". I thought she was just kidding around when I pointed out to her the kids in school that got whatever they wanted (I tended to hang out with the ones whose parents showed more restraint than that!). I didn't realize how true it...
:caf Hmmm..now THERE'S a picture...
I was kinda hoping that, since we're having August's weather in June, we'd get October's weather in August. Guess not :/
Brought home some leftover black beans & refried beans from a catered lunch at work yesterday and canned most of it (had some of the pintos with cheese for lunch :D). Tomorrow I'm gonna try to can the mexican rice I brought home.
