The easiest way to keep track of posts (without receiving e-mails, something I don't much care for) is to click the Show Your Posts at the bottom left-hand corner of the index page. The threads with new messages will be bold and have a [New Posts] link.
Haven't read the whole thread, but has anyone mentioned The Judge? I'm hoping to add that to my zombie defense arsenal ;) A number four shotload should hold a few of them at bay.
I saw that link a few months ago, we sent it around our local gun forum.
I get stuff from political sites I don't agree with, I might glance at it for amusement value, but that is what the delete button is for. I get tons of spam, it just gets deleted unread.
Yes it is quite offending - I am a Pantheist, I am spiritual, but follow no formal religion. We have Pagans here, and other spiritual people - atheists have moral values also; none of that takes away from the value of their contributions here on SS, nor of the value of their very existence...
I've never uploaded anything to YouTube, but I did tonight. It's a video of an orientation flight outside of Hive #1, at first I thought it was swarming, but no, it was just a bunch of new bees learning how to get back home. You can hear the rooster and one of my BR hens in the background, and...
It is a poisonous plant, although the shoots in the springtime are edible. It's Pokeweed, or Phytolacca americana. We called them gushberries and used to whip each other with them, splattering ourselves with grape-colored blotches (thankfully they wash right out of clothing).
This about boils it down for many of us - the value of the garden to some of us is an intangible, call it good will, that intangible that's accepted in accounting practices as a line item on the balance sheet.
Roamers can try to steal my crops, they won't be the only one with guns - or plenty of ammo.
I am actually rather intrigued at those who are trying to downplay or discourage people growing their own food. I grow a lot, and it isn't marginal in quality at all, there's nothing better than...
I've never been a big fan of planning with equity in mind. Then again, I'm not into flipping houses, as anyone knows who knows me. I've been on this property for 32 years now. I look at a landscape as something that's going to bring me pleasure, to me it isn't work at all. Someday I'll be...
Peppers and eggplants, in particular, like it hot. They're warm weather veggies and won't grow and set fruit until it's good and warm out. Tomatoes also like it warm, but they'll quit setting fruit if it gets too hot. It isn't worthwhile to put peppers and eggplants out before early summer...
Yesterday was heavenly, no humidity and in the low 80's after a week of relentless heat and humidity. I can't stand it. Today was warmer and muggier, but tomorrow is supposed to be in the low 70's. Thank goodness.
Joe Bastardi doesn't have much good to say for us non-heat lovers this summer...
It's an awful thing to endure, I'm sure. An old neighborhood friend of mine has just lost her 29 year old son (went to school with my eldest) via an overdose. Not the same mode, I understand, but a mother's loss is the same no matter how it happens. I wish them both peace in their hearts and...
