Farmer chick,
That's great info. I have a terrible time with stiff, achy joints especially in the morning. I do a lot of stretching, but still have quite a bit of stiffness. I am definetly going to try it.
About the aloe vera juice...you bet it works!! Years ago (before the epidemic of...
A friend of ours recently told the Schwan man to come to our house and told us after the fact that the driver would be coming to our house. I was all set to turn him away (love their stuff, but way too pricey if you're following a budget) but as it turned out, the Schwan man was a guy I've...
My big splurge was a VitaMix blender. I am not a frivolous person, so it took me several years to finaly give in to my wants and spend the money on it. I've had it since early spring, use the heck out of it, and absolutely love it.
We spend our lives working hard to be able to live and enjoy...
I wondered about freezing butter...how it would be after it thawed out. The local Walmart here runs a sale on the 'no name' butter every once in a while for $2.00 a pound. Next time it goes on sale, I'll get extra and put it in the freezer. How long will it keep in the freezer without changing...
I tapped some of the maple trees on our property last winter. We heat with a wood stove, so I just kept a huge stainless steel kettle on the stove cooking down the sap, adding more to the kettle each day. I ended up with way more sap than the kettle would hold so I started another kettle...
Had puff balls with dinner the last two evenings. Hopefully with a little rain, we'll get some more! Oyster mushrooms aren't here yet, but the days and evenings are just starting to get a little cooler so hopefully not much longer!
Roosmom,

Pour into a pan and bring to a boil for 1 minute. Add 3 cups of peeled garlic and bring to another boil for...
J and J,
For my dogs' ear mites, I was told to use mineral oil...just enough to coat the inside of their ears. I use a q tip to wipe out the gunk each day while I'm using the mineral oil. They've had ear mites 3 or 4 times over the last several years and the mineral oil always seams to work...
We burn mostly hardwood, mainly oak. Of our 22 acres all but about 6 are wooded. Each year, storms take down a few trees and we just go cut them up. We've never actually had to cut down any of the trees to get our firewood. Sure beats paying for propane to heat the house with!
I have a Kitchenaid mixer that was passed on to me from my aunt. I don't know when they started making them, but she told me that she thought she remembered purchasing it in the late 50's or early 60's. It's the kind that sits on the countertop, has the removeable bowl and uses attatchments...
