glenolam's madness - April passed away

Well, I guess that is good news/bad news. With the mycoplasma, she should really get a second shot of draxxin. My vet said they need 14 day coverage. But I know every vet has their own opinion. Draxxin is also great for any respiratory problems too. I had a pneumonia problem and the draxxin...

More subdivision - Meat for the Homestead or any other Ideas!

I'd like to see some sort of category for animals since so many people have chickens, goats, sheep, cows and turkeys for meat and other purposes.

    backyard goat questions

Goats would have no problem jumping over that height. You would want at least 4 foot high fencing or whatever to make stalls. Depending on size of goats and sheep. I would say don't count on it and plan to feed hay. The weather has so much to do with it. Have a drought year or rainy (where they...

What Kind of Boot/Shoes Do You Use in the Garden and Animal Pens?

I wear LL Bean Storm Chaser clogs. They are a bit pricey but they give me the best support and fit my feet well. I go through about 1 pair per year but they are worn pretty much every day. Even in the winter I wear them if the snow isn't too high.

    TTs Chicks Pics and Ramblings

Don't know if you have already done it or not but I say go for the goat. No matter what, you will have milk sooner than later. Also, if she gives lots of milk, you could even have milk while she is nursing her kids.

glenolam's madness - April passed away

Good luck. I hope she gets better quick for you. Make sure you inject the Ivomec. Meningeal has a 60 day incubation period so just keep an eye on the rest of your herd. At the slightest weakness in their back ends, just start treating.

glenolam's madness - April passed away

i gave her the Ivomec and the Safeguard the same day, along with the Banamine. Right now, I'm just doing the 5 days of Safeguard and probably won't repeat it. The Ivomec is a preventative for meningeal and not a treatment. It actually has been a very long time since I have had to take care of an...

glenolam's madness - April passed away

My girl wasn't bad at all. I noticed on the milk stand one time that she would occasionally drop her back end. Thought she was just being difficult. Then the next day she wasn't interested in eating her grain and when she walked, she occasionally dropped her back end (like her knee gave out or...
