For myself, if I see something odd (or obviously selling something) I simply report it. I've been online on various forums for years and have a fair sense for what is "normal" forum posting vs. spam. I'm sure I get it wrong sometimes, but I figure the moderators can take it from there and...
Thanks Marianne! I was just wondering, because while I find nut milks and some rice milk "ok", I'd far rather be able to have real dairy products again--haven't been able to tolerate much more than yogurt twice a week or the occasional bit of a nice aged cheese for the last 20 years or so.

Ditto, recipes are guidelines :)
I loved Home Ec in high school because my teacher taught us all about how different ingredients are used and what they do in recipes. My girls didn't learn any of that in Jr. High (they just cooked/baked fun things) and now that they are in High School no one...
Curious why others drink/use nut milks? Is it a taste thing?
I'm lactose intolerant, so if I want something "milky" I buy it--but I also need the calcium that the commercial stuff is enriched with, can't get it from the homemade stuff. I wouldn't buy it/use it if I could have the real thing.
We like a mild salsa and I like this recipe http://www.bernardin.ca/pages/recipe_page/51.php?pid=197 but I only use the dried chipotle peppers, not the cascabel peppers (don't know what those are anyway!)
I've made it twice now, it's always perfect. :)
A big tip for salsa--taste it as you add...
I use Pyrex/Anchor Hocking glass pans, always have. My Mom has gorgeous old blackened dimpled steel ones, but you just can't get those anymore.
I don't use "non-stick" anything, it's all the same chemical regardless of the "brand" of coating. It eventually comes off and gets into your food...
I know way too many people who have been diagnosed over the past 10 years or so. :(
One friend cannot walk/drive anymore and is fairly confined to home because of her lack of mobility. She has a good support network, but I know she feels isolated because she can't do for herself what she used...
On the carpal tunnel thing, I was told both by my doctor and the doctor to whom I was referred at the Physio clinic that I'm not a candidate for surgery--yet. And since undergoing all the physio and learning coping techniques like exercises, I'm usually just fine unless I've been going hard at...
Oh, their efforts and results are absolutely inspiring, it's just too bad that they feel they have the monopoly on certain terminology--in an age when more and more people are moving toward a more sustainable lifestyle.
I'm pretty sure that video is featured on their website...
This family has been discussed here a few times in the past. They have some great ideas, and have kept it going for a long while. But they have also made some people angry by "trademarking" several phrases (like "urban homestead"). I've also read quite often that the father won't allow his...
Turmeric is amazing stuff--it also helps fight infections and is good for digestive upsets. I put it into everything that can take it--to the point that some of my wooden spoons are dyed yellow from it :lau
Never knew about the hair thing though, but we all have super thick hair to begin with...
