Bacon! Speaking of which, I need to call around for bellies. I've accomplished something so far....I've cleaned the stove. Might not sound like much, but I don't think it's ever been REALLY cleaned since I got it - and I got it used, and it wasn't clean then. I did the whole self clean (aka...

    Best Seed Catalog??

I love E&R Seeds, but they are an Amish/Mennonite group and no website. Their catalog is fantastic however. They have an answering service for phone and email. Email is eandrseed@yahoo.com, phone is 866-510-3337. They have a LOT of heritage and organic seeds, and the prices are very good I...

    Weed abatement HELP!

I've salted our concrete pad, works well. Nothing grows in the cracks. Nothing grows where the path is from the house to the drive, salted in the winter.

Yeah...that was an O RLY? when I got them. They sure weren't going to go on the property border like I thought, so I put them in the garden. Child stomped one, but the rest have made it, some are about 3' tall now. Maybe in another 2-3 years I'll transplant them to where I want them, but they...

Awww Deb, you can bet on that! Well, planning out how I'm going to do the pig thing. I was thinking of running them in the shed, near the chickens, but then, the idea of chicken eating pigs isn't tops on my list, and I'd rather avoid any eating of the chickens, unless it's me. So, I thought...

We had chicken "enchiladas" last night - aka cook up some chicken (or thaw out the shredded rooster meat here), cook some cream cheese, milk, chopped jalapeno (frozen here), and cheddar cheese (finally went to the store), and mix some of that with the chicken, wrap the chicken in burrito shells...

For all you cheese makers out there..........

The 'taxi cab" flavor is what grossed me out a bit. To me, my own tasted like sweetened milk (I think humans have a higher milk sugar that cows?) I would have thought breast milk would have made a pretty mild cheese....not taste like a taxi cab.
