That's why I moved out of Santa Barbara 20 years ago. There's no one left their now but the very well off, and the people who wait on them in one fashion or another. When I had to work two full time jobs just to pay the mortgage on a modest home, I knew that the Santa Barbara "lifestyle" was...
"....but I would just reheat it really well and go with it "
Yeah, I really wanted to do that, but couldn't talk myself into it. I've had health issues in the past and tend to be a bit on the conservative side when it comes to food that hasn't been handled properly. So for today's lunch: PB & B
With two bouts of cancer and a major surgery to fix the aftereffects of radiation therapy, I have NO LOVE LOST for insurance companies. When I was in the hospital for my radiation implants, my insurance company tried to DENY me a private room, even though no one could be exposed to me for more...
Today I checked the "closeout" meat section at the grocery store. I got an 11 pound "Rancher's Reserve" beef roast for $8 and not quite nine pounds of really good looking boneless pork chops for $7. I passed on the 50% discounted chicken breast.......originally $6.99 a pound! Even at half...
I've been quilting for about 25 years. I like the blocks put together without the black. If you want to separate the blocks, maybe consider using a tiny check or stripe that incorporates as many of those colors as you can find.
Really pretty quilt!
Does goat's milk taste different that cow's milk? I read that people who didn't know they were drinking goat's milk didn't know the difference? is that true? I want a couple goats but not if I can't use the milk like I would cow's milk.
I just glanced through the postings, but didn't see anyone mention log home kits. I've seen several nice homes built by the owners from log home kits, and prices were anywhere from $30,000 and w-a-y up. There's lots of info on the net about log home kits.
I live in a modular which is 28x70...
I work at home and often print up to fifty pages a week with my HP printer. Ink isn't cheap! So I downloaded a font that will save on ink. I found this info in (I think) Oprah magazine, that I get for free. Here's the blurb from the font website.

But....but....but......does this mean I have to quit being thrifty and learn how to be self-indulgent instead of self-sufficient?
Dang, and I just sent hubby out to pick up 25 bags full of free-cycled landscaping bark to line the paths between the garden rows. Aren't I going to feel silly...
I just have to respond. Locking the doors was an incredibly dangerous thing to do. That kid could have been carrying a weapon. Not likely, of course, but there is no knowing what a "trapped" person will do. Even something as spur of the moment as throwing something can cause serious injury...
I had eight tiny Brandywine tomato seedlings on the bathroom window. Forgot to close the bathroom door and one of the cats went in there and ate the seedlings! Back to square one.
I have a bunch of seeds started in organic biodegradable pots in one of those mini-greenhouse thingies like...
For most things, I do not preheat my electric oven. I've never noticed a difference in the quality of the food. For something that has a very short bake time, such as cookies, I go ahead and preheat.
I just got back from the bakery outlet. I got a 12-pack of whole grain hot dog buns, an 8-pack of whole grain hamburger buns, a pound of normally-expensive coffee (for hubby), a box of Earl Grey tea bags (for me) , 4 loaves of whole-grain bread, 4 boxes of not-too-unhealthy cookies, a box of...
gettinaclue, I feel for ya. I'm on day four of no coffee and no soft drinks. Although I didn't get a headache, I have been dragging! Could barely keep my eyes open all day yesterday, but today feels better. We can do this!
