    Chicken and dumplings recipe

I make it like chicken noodle soup, only use homemade bread dough instead of noodles. I make very small rolls since they rise so much. Then put in oven to bake and brown on top. Memories now of being really yummy and hungry for some!

    Raked Leaves for Chicken Litter

I tried leaves one time and the ducks didn't like them, in the barn anyway, and avoided sleeping on them. Chickens didn't mind either way, since they roost. It seems like pine shavings are more absorbent than leaves, and the poo messes stay on top of the shavings better and easier to clean up...

    Local Vitamin C Sources

Blanc Double de Coubert is a Rogusa rose that hasn't suckered for me, and produces good sized hips. I don't know how abundant hip production is since I deadhead most of the summer. I stop deadheading late in the summer to get some hips. In a SHTF situation, I would stop deadheading. I need...

Sprouted Wheat Berry Flour, Grain Mills, and Bread

I experimented with sprouted wheat berries about 12 years ago. I dried the wheat after sprouting, ground it in the Vitamix, then used like regular flour. Same result, crusty on the outside and like bread pudding in the middle. Since then I bought some bags of various sprouted flours and had...

I did buy a book specifically on making real sauerkraut. I've been able to make it ever since.

    shortages

Definitely worth the buy! Sauerkraut recipe didn't work for me though, because it wasn't detailed enough, and really the wrong way to ferment.

    Cloth Diapering

This is a great thread. Not only diapers, but think if toilet paper and tissues are not available what will you do? Do you have cloth hankies? What about toilet paper? Everyone knows that we have become a throw away society. Everything is packaged in plastic, which is good for what...

    shortages

I put the air purifier on and wear a mask when I use CLR. The problem with it is the sprayer puts streaks on the surface that runs down and cleans only the streaks. I rub it around to try to clean better, but it doesn't work well. I've found that baking soda and vinegar works better.

There's cloth diapers. Sort of yucky, but doable.

    shortages

Some animal versions of vitamins are more readily available to humans. I ate raw liver and egg yolks to help restore my lungs a few year ago (high in retinol). There are some people who only eat meat, and who react to many chemicals that are produced in and by vegetables.
