    What's for dinner?

Found some mostly grass fed round steak earlier this week, which I've never found before. Having that, and a jar of frozen sweet potatoes.

    Quail

Didn't know you could keep them together in a pen. Is that a chicken to the left?

    Quail

Had two eggs for breakfast. Different to "crack" than a chicken or duck egg. I found a quail egg cutter on-line to purchase, but don't like to purchase kitchen gadgets if I don't need to. I will work on streamlining opening quail eggs for now.

    Quail

I should have eggs by now, but don't. I have to research to figure out why.

    Lone Duckling

I give my goose muscovy eggs to hatch every year, since I don't want anymore geese. She has to hatch and take care of something, or she will get depressed and stop eating. She has just one duckling now that hatched. Actually I had to interfere and break out of the shell. She was hard on the...

    Quail

The call is a vibrating sound, much different than a Bobwhite:

What did you do in your garden today?

Received a good amount and much needed of rain yesterday afternoon. Planted extra tomato plants in the cold frame last night, and most have small tomatoes. So far harvested kale, onions, lettuce, and garlic scapes.

    Quail

I don't know how they'll do in the winter. I think in your area you'll want to keep them inside. Here, I'll have to see, since Bobwhite are around here, but survival is difficult for them because of the snow. I will probably shovel snow in their run, or put them inside their shed, and close...

    Quail

They are Jumbo Brown and Golden Manchurian. They don't make a Bob White call.

    Quail

No, people normally keep them in quail cages because it's less work and cheaper than a shed and very secure fence system. I won't put any animal or bird in a cage.

    Sprained Ankle While Sleeping?

I've woken up to a foot cramp so many times. Potassium chloride with water before bed and no more foot cramps.

What did you do in your garden today?

I thought about planting English Ivy in some of the mint areas, which is another invasive plant, but I could be sorry. I have some English Ivy planted on a hillside that cannot be mowed, and it hasn't gotten out of control. Once the mint gets to the grass areas it stops, except one area the...

What did you do in your garden today?

I do love the smell of mint when I walk on it or disturb it. It's not worth having it though. I planted it at our last house, and decided I would never plant it again. However, it was already well established at this house when we moved here. I love Creeping Charlie and encourage it.

    Sprained Ankle While Sleeping?

My ankle is much better this morning. So glad. Yesterday I had my ankle wrapped and used a cane, carefully maneuvering with every step. Still watered plants yesterday evening. I have so much to do, so very happy that it's a short term injury.

What did you do in your garden today?

You can have some mint if you would like, but I don't think you'll have problem with yours growing everywhere.
