In between here, as minimum wage was $3.35/hour when I graduated high school. Was too low for me, so I had a waitress job where I made an average of $5.00 per hour.
Have cannelli beans soaking since yesterday and going to make apple bean bake today, after pressure cooking the beans. Going to be good! Leftover thawed veggie soup too.
Here's a new member of the family. He just showed up, yelling meow with reason: cold, hungry, thirsty, nowhere to go, just dumped! (I think he was dumped because a different friendly, however biting cat showed up two days before, but left, and another neighbor kept him, who doesn't mind so...
I think this is the same article I read before about using 100% grass fed beef suet for face/skin balm. Only change is that the 2nd time, I made the suet out of lamb fat and added no other ingredients, just the suet. The lamb fat is reserved in the freezer only for cosmetic use now...
All the eggs (46) are together. This was on March 31, when I set the 2nd batch of eggs. I decided not to let the first batch of eggs wait for the 2nd batch to get here. Lock down for #1 is Friday, and they are due on Sunday!
Beans and me, do not get along. However, I'm thinking about trying chick peas, which are a legume, and making that dip, hummus! With some kind of grain free homemade cracker, or maybe just celery sticks, or lettuce, or a new favorite: endive! With salt and garlic! I'm going to experiment...
Thank you. Things will get better, as I had a food sensitivity testing along with gut permeability testing done and got the results yesterday! I have leaky gut. Now I have a solid plan for healing :weee!
I would like to try Cornish, and thinking it might be a good idea to keep a breeding flock, however they are not heavily feathered, are large birds, and would take considerable resources to feed and keep comfortable in winter. I've also read that they have a low fertility rate.
Has anyone here...
Raising for both meat and eggs (that is if I can butcher them). Going to grow food for them, which I can't do for chickens.
We have a chicken shed, that no longer has a group of chickens in it, that we'll be converting for the quail, and put up a large fenced run outside for them. I'll make...
Cornish Cross are not miserable if managed properly.
Two years ago we raised Cornish Cross as any other chicken. They were truly free ranged. I did not restrict their food, but let them eat as much as they wanted. Out of 10 there was one who ate a lot from the feeder, and we butchered that...
They won't stay in the incubator very long after hatch. With chicken chicks I take them out of the incubator even before they're dry. I know it's not recommended, but never had a problem.
I don't use a brooder light, but what I call a chick cave with a heating pad(s). I'll do the same with...
Received Jumbo Wild/Brown Coturnix quail eggs yesterday. Will receive another batch of quail eggs later this week which are Gold Manchurian and Italian Speckled mix. Will start incubating them at the same time!
Food has been limited recently for me (last two months). Not much I can do about it. System doesn't tolerate much of a range of food, or even much food at all.
However, looking forward to lupper (lunch/supper), today! Planning on iceburg lettuce salad, with endive, red onion, olive oil...
Still eating once a day. Not hungry and not much even when it's time to eat. Listening to my body, and no food that I know are off limits, not even in the smallest amounts for now. Maybe later I can have some pizza that I've modified.
Just found this. Had a freaking scary issue last week that people go to emergency rooms for. Did a three day water only fast, with potassium chloride and magnesium chloride flakes in water sipped throughout the day (not in the same cup. They should be taken separate from each other). The...
