made more progress today on cleaning up the old strawberry patch. i should be able to finish it up tomorrow in about an hour to an hour and a half.
i took a few pictures of the gardens out there that i've put up plus the few still left to go yet
i also took pictures of the soil profile of the...
i did get some gardening done, scraped a large garden i'd already weeded recently to make sure any tiny grass sprouts that were starting were removed or disrupted from having an easy time coming back. that was 20 minutes and then i spent the rest of the afternoon working in the old strawberry...
i'm old enough now that anything in such small amounts is unlikely to be a problem. also i don't do this very often... :) i guess they could be washed, i think they're washed before they get waxed or coated (with whatever they normally put on oranges - i've never seen a dirty orange in my life).
no rains in the forecast until towards the end of next week. i should be able to get some things done outside this week. :) which is good because there's still a lot to get done...
i'll try to get some weeding done today and see how that goes. i have one garden in particular which is really...
several months ago for the first time ever i had orange beef at the place we normally have eaten at for the past nearly 50 years. sad to say it wasn't nearly as good as it should have been. the beef was really tough and overcooked - shoe leather would have been an improvement.

i never do low acid canning (which to me would mean i'd have to get a pressure canner and i really don't want to deal with that) the only reason i'm doing oven canning is to get the jars to seal, so the question of the actual items to be safe is not what i worry about nearly as much as just...
while it isn't generally recommended any more i've had so little problems with oven canning for what would otherwise be BWB canned items that i think more people should give it a try.
yes, you do need to know what you're doing but it really isn't that hard and there are hazards (broken jars can...
OJ is a horrible choice in general (an extreme opinion probably). for the most nutrition/$ buy oranges and eat them all (including the peel - ok, almost all, don't eat the little nubby thing that is usually on there). juice removes the fiber and a lot of the vitamins so you're basically buying...
one of the hardest things here has been getting Mom to use less soap than she thinks is enough... finally got her dialed in at last. she was using 2-3 times as much as was needed and it was making a mess of the machine.
my problem with food is that pretty much everything is really yummy and i'm not very picky. i've managed to hold my own in recent times by doing things by halfs and then going and keeping busy to distract me from thinking about eating more.
i have not yet gotten back into the donuts today - so...
i went to bed late, got up early, had a bit of breakfast, put some music on and went back to sleep for a few hours. that helped! :)
today i'm just puttering around inside. it's too muddy out there.
