I buy close-out seeds most every year. I put them in a cardboard box and put them in a closet. Usually have very good luck. Some are years old. I just start extras.
This is a great thread. I recently canned dry beans and found 2 black bean sprouts in the dish drainer. Planted them and they are in the garden about 1 foot high. A fun experiment.:weee
We have an Amish family that does ours. They used to charge $3.25 a bird...But last year $2 as I work in a Labor and Delivery unit and have helped them: with difficult deliveries and they have become friends. Good people. I do not think I would do it for $5!:drool
My neighbor works @ the paper mill. He has toilet paper and paper towels...I have eggs..good trade. I know hes been here when I find large packs of paper goods by the garage fridge...by the way...that was a great trade FranklinStreetWest

During the winter and when we were thinking about getting chickens, I read all the books aloud to my Hubby. I knew he wouldn`t read them but we learned alot. Got chicks that spring and love having them. Personally I would like folks to teach by showing me how to do something.
