it's been raining here today, yesterday was snow and shovelling it so it wouldn't be a mess. this week it will be warm (aka above freezing) until this weekend. i don't like this constant changing back and forth because it brings chances of ice on the roads and everywhere else...

you may want to mention to him that it is really better to use the vacation time instead of taking it as a lump sum because all the time he puts in on the job he would get benefits that otherwise are lost. i made that mistake when i left a previous job and it would have been worth quite a bit...

a few egg rolls from yesterday's outing running errands and stopping at our favorite chinese food place for lunch. just what i needed. :)

i was so excited about taking out the trash this morning that i woke up almost four hours early. eventually it did get taken out, the snow was shovelled and then a nap happened. when i woke up from that nap i realized i did not have to take recycling out so i went out and brought it all back...

no new mice tracks in the snow for the past several days. hopefully they've been discouraged enough and i can get out this week in the warmer break we'll have to get the gravel stirred up and piled up enough to also discourage any new ones from starting up in the same spot.

our friend (that made the christmas box pictured above) passed away on NYE. :( RIP dear friend. i'm glad we were able to visit her when we did. she didn't seem like she was doing that poorly when we visited her so i was surprised to hear she'd gone.

i am definitely simplifying and getting rid of clutter and more to do for sure but making no promises or resolutions. :)

those are a lot more efficient than the type of propane fireplace we have (which has the ceramic fake firewood that doesn't actually burn but does collect soot) and what i would have liked to put in instead when we had the fireplace converted to use propane. plus the version you have at least...

after recent warm spell that melted all the snow off we went back to some snow again and so the first night there was not any tracks in the snow but the 2nd morning there were all sorts of mice tracks going towards the cover to the crawlspace entrance cover. i figured they'd started another...

use spray foam and put some wax paper over it and close it... if you want to build a little edge to hold in the shape and use a lot less foam or try it a few times it is probably not too expensive of an experiment to do. sharp blade would remove it if you make a mistake and want to do...
