Oh, I just remembered... one way Mother got us motivated to read a lot was having "read-a-thons" where we would get donors to pay us for each book we'd read, & then we would send the money to a blind children's camp that our church has :) We really enjoyed doing that :)

How we store our root veggies is burried in sand & straw, and never add water. Our normal humidity is about 9%, and it isnt much higher inside our cellars. Dehydration & canning are our main ways of preserving, including the root veggies. Winter squash stores fine over the winter just as it is...

Might I ask why you would prefer the weights over the gauge? I have had other people tell me the opposite, because they want to be able to look at the pressure and know exactly what it is so they can time it... just curious as to why you would NOT want the dial gauge?

For the underground part, I think a couple of rooms, hidden compartments, etc, would be interesting... everyone knows whats in a cellar, so I always think about security measures that dont require you to be there to guard it.
