Some interesting reading and ideas. My passion is hunting and diving so my diet is 95% carnivore, I eat pretty much just venison/fish and Paua which is what you would call Abalone. Very cheap food bill which is basically Milk, Tea and coffee.

Ive never had that problem, even planted seedlings directly into fresh seaweed taken from the beach and they grow just fine.

I'm a lefty, I can shoot a right handed bolt easily but I prefer single shot rifles, I use a Thompson centre Pro encore.

.22 semi auto rifle for me, we don't have large predators so I dont need anything for protection. I will take any opportunity to shoot feral cats, and Hares that I see trying to chew my young trees. I have killed wild goats and small wild pigs very successfully within 50 yards.

The Only Tea tree I am familiar with is Manuka and Kanuka which is native to my country, more commonly known by the crazy expensive product of Manuka honey. Manuka tea (tea tree) is quite nice and the stuff grows pretty much everywhere here.

Very good question, and a complex one. I hunt a lot so being able to squat/climb up hills with a heavy load on my back is important. I am a trail runner as well which I think in a SHTF situation is extremely important.

Yeah NZ, I know a few people that have Wyandotte which seem a fairly easy bird to breed. I would have to keep in a coop as we have trouble with Hawks here killing chickens, they will kill large birds easily. Feral cats, and stoats which I already shoot/trap. I will be raising chickens for eggs...

That is a good idea, I was thinking of saving the fish heads/fames I get from diving and putting through the mincer to use for chicken food.

This has probably been answered somewhere, but what breed are people using for meat/egg birds, I only like old breed heritage birds. I will be setting up my coop during the Summer, big enough for 15 birds.

After I have hung an animal for 4-5 days somewhere cold I usually cut out the back legs right at the hip joint with the rump steak attached, remove the back steaks, this is all my good quality steak, anything else off the body is bagged up for sausage meat which I freeze into 7kg bags (15lbs)...

I am going to get a fresh load of seaweed to mulch on my garden to prepare it for Tomatoes, I usually put it about a foot thick and give it a while to start to rot down then plant, biggest and healthiest plants I have ever grown are with seaweed mulch.

We have just had the wettest July on record so not too many people are happy about NZ at the moment 😂. Spring is just around the corner though thank god.

Wow that's a lot of rules, the only legal rule here is you are not allowed to take a .22 into the national parks because all birds are protected. We have made Canada geese a pest a few years back though. Anything here with four legs is fair game no matter what time of year.

I have seen videos of Wolves being hunted in Idaho I think, are they now becoming a pest because they are breeding so well ? I can't even imagine what it would be like to hunt an animal as large as a wolf or bear
