I've just hatched my first chicks in my incubator. Noticed one of the chicks has got something stuck to her, any ideas what it is and should I be concerned?

We've had a lot of rain today, so everything is covered in mud. I only fed the chickens and topped up their water. Good news though, they've started to lay again. I was lucky to get 2-3 eggs a day a couple of weeks ago. Now I'm up to 5-7 eggs daily.

I'm keeping it simple this year and will growing what I consider core veg; potatoes, onions, carrots, tomatoes and salad crops. My supplier breeds some lovely looking bantams, so I'll be getting a variety of eggs from them.

Thanks for the welcome all. I picked up an incubator from another allotment holder, so I'll be giving that a try. Unfortunately, I'm unable to keep a cockerel on my allotment due to association rules, so I'll be buying fertile eggs from a local supplier.
