    Doing sales?

Many of my best collectible finds were marked with a price that reflected the seller had no idea what he/she was doing. It's a toss up. If you are at the end of your rope with all the preparations and can't see your way clear to figure out prices by yourself, then you gotta do what you gotta do.

    WHAT ARE YOU CANNING TODAY?

I have recanned salsa, enchilada sauce, BBQ sauce, applesauce, pineapple and hominy. You may lose a teensy bit of texture, and I would drain some of the syrup and add some lemon so I could water bath, but it will probably work.

I just figured this was a personal issue, as this thread was pretty much dead for six months.

    Solar Oven Info

I built my solar cooker for less than $10, and you can even go cheaper. http://solarcooking.wikia.com/wiki/Windshield_Shade_Solar_Cooker Got an SUV sized reflector for $6 on sale at k-Mart. Used chip clips to hold it together the first time, and then sewed velcro on it when I found out it...

    Suing McDonalds

The "obesity epidemic" is a scam to put what we eat under the control of other people, such as the government. Was watching Iron Chef the other day, a rerun of the battle where the secret ingredient was "anything from the White House garden". Bobby Flay was reaching down into a bush and...

    Doing sales?

I am working right now and can't make a long post. I will think about all of this and come back as I think of ideas for you. This one is to think vertically. Put hand made items in dollar store ziplocks and clothes pin them to a lightweight rope hanging from something. Tupperware is...

    Food Shortage

A pressure canner without the weight and with the lid not cranked down can be used as a water bath canner. I have both, but I tell my students they don't have to. I want a second pressure canner!!!

Taking a step back, in order to move forward

Well, grandma had things from the early 1900's. We knew that they were valuable, and I had a few antique and collectible books, as that is an interest of mine, so we looked them up and found out the insurance replacement value, which is always the highest value. The highest value items we put...

Taking a step back, in order to move forward

I don't go to professionally priced or managed estate sales. They are always priced too high for my budget. When my grandmother died, we had a private bidding sale for antique dealers with some of her better things. Had a bid sheet in front of each item and took the highest.

Taking a step back, in order to move forward

First thing to do is cull the jars. Run your hand aroung the rims and feel for chips. Hold them up to the light and look for cracks. Make sure the older ones accept the contemporary flat lids and rings. Give away those you cannot use. Canner's won't pay for them and you shouldn't move them...

    This is frustrating.

I get fat lady stretch denim elastic waist pants at the $5 clothing store. Shoes? I wear a 12, daughter a 13. Since Payless took their cheapest price up to $15 from $10, I haven't bought any shoes. Been maybe two years. But that's okay, because when I used to have disposable income, I...

    Howdy all

Smart to take those kinds of measures. It's bad, and it's going to get worse. Today I live on 70% less than five years ago. Did what you are doing and have never regretted it for a minute.

    This is frustrating.

Hear you, Blackbird. I grew up in the 60's when everything was changing, including styles, at a breathtaking pace. Other girls were in wild colors and mini skirts, while I dressed like I was from the 1940's. It was tough. High school sucks. You should pardon my French.

    This is frustrating.

I think frugality is not just a good idea, I think it is a necessity. And associated with it is the necessary setting of priorities. For example, I know that after paying bills I will have about $30 at the most left to live on every two weeks. The choices I make determine how the next two...
