I want to share a cute little post I found on Pinterest. Don't tell secrets in the garden. The potatoes have eyes, the corn has ears and the beanstalk

I'm going to try to get Cheeks outside for a while. She's getting cabin fever so since she's still not healed fully from Whiner attacking her she is not happy about being inside.

Haven't been here since I just got the run covered before the rain starts. Not sure when it will start but better safe than sorry. I don't want to try to bring 11 chickens inside to dry out.

I changed the dressing on Cheeks and it's healing beautifully. I'm keeping it covered to 1) prevent flies from getting in it, 2) to keep it from itching like mad. She's still staying inside though because I still don't want the other girls, mice and flies hurting her.

I should try to find one but I will still be paranoid about her possibly getting an infection so I will just keep her in the living room.

Cheeks is walking around and talking to me. I'm keeping her inside to prevent flies, mice and possibly Whiner or even one of the other girls getting to her because she has bare skin.

Today after I got Cheeks all set up with food and water, I was trying to get the run done but the other girls are coming at me like mom, mom, mom, you brought us more food come on mom give us more food. I came back inside and checked on Cheeks and found out that she's an olive egger. She laid an...

So I have been trying to get the roosters processed but I ended up tossing them because I wasn't confident enough to allow anyone to eat them considering it took me so long to process one fully. One got away so I thought he would just start stinking up the property but no he's now under my porch...

I got a spaghetti squash yesterday and picked 2 more today. I'm having spaghetti squash dessert tonight. I picked 2 pumpkins today and it looks like I will get some more for making more bread. I will also have enough squash for desserts.

Had a busy day today with the granddaughter. Got home and started getting the chickens watered and saw something move and almost had a heart attack. It was a little garden snake that scared me a couple of weeks ago. He scared the holy bajeebies out of me. He gets to stay though because he had a...

What did you do in your garden today?

I went out yesterday and watered the garden. Picked some more tomatoes and removed the peppers that looked like they were toast. Nothing in my garden this year has really been productive except the pumpkins and vining squash. I did get a decent potato harvest though. I'm going to try to...

🔋 Can You Make It Through a Week Off-Grid? 🌿

I had the opportunity and money a few years back to buy an actual wood burning cook stove with ovens. I couldn't get to the town in enough time to buy it 😞. Tomorrow or Friday I have to go pick the 2 pumpkins because they won't last until October. They are already bright orange so some pumpkin...

🔋 Can You Make It Through a Week Off-Grid? 🌿

I'm wanting to invest in a wood cook stove and cast iron pots and pans. I would love to be able to cook like that. It's just a way of surviving without depending on the grid.

Heating is lighting candles with a mirror behind them to generate heat during a cold spell. For the electric I have a generator but I also have my husband's big truck so I'm covered. Charging phones start vehicle for long enough to get a decent charge. The cold we have a pellet stove that can be...
