I am curious to how you prevent having a bunch of flies buzzing around with this method. I love the idea and am more than willing to farm soldier fly maggots, but I want to make sure I will have control over the stupid flies. They were bad enough this year without breeding them with compost! :)
We have LOTS of sunshine..and summer heat. In fact, we have to shade our tomatoes, squash, peppers, etc since the intense sun and heat just bakes them.

While I haven't had the opportunity to try it on Stevia, I have read that it is best sun dried, then either crumbled in the hand for cooking for grinded into a powder (eith food processor or mortar and pestal).
I just saw your post. Thanks so much! We compost with tumblers as well as earthworms. We have 3 med-large dogs, 1 cat, 30 chickens and 2 adults (DH and I) who love homecooking. I think I want pet maggots now! :D
That book is amazing! We own it as well and still reference it after years of homebrewing. We use Beer, Beer and More Beer (a beer and wine supply store). Not sure if one is near you, but you can visit their website at www.morebeer.com. I think they ship. I'd recommend starting out with a kit...
