glenolam's madness - April passed away

I forgot to say there is one lesson I really learned during our no power days. I am not meant to live "in the olden days" like the early settlers. Too much time for conversation. Way too much. Talking is good, but there comes a time when you break down with the twitches because you can only...

glenolam's madness - April passed away

Thanks - it is sad but I did give her a good "good bye" just in case something happenend. It was a really hard hit on me yesterday. I won't go into much detail because it's not the time nor the place, but so much has happened to us in the past few days that her death was just icing on the cake...

    Soap Making 101

Hey aggieterpkatie - great job on the soap! I'm glad the recipe worked for you!!!! You can always tweak it if you think it's too harsh or want a softer bar, just be sure to run it through soap calc to make sure you use the correct amount of lye. Damummis - I wouldn't use crayons to color...

glenolam's madness - April passed away

Trust me, OFG...the thought did cross my mind. Tanks - we thankfully had a generator so the cow didn't go all soft in the freezer. We were able to shower once a day so, yes, we still went to work every day. My MIL watched little g since the daycare was closed but surely didn't mind a little...

glenolam's madness - April passed away

Whoa...hard to believe it's been almost a month! I can't really blame my absentness on the new position; as I'm sure henrietta has mentioned we got pretty hard by Irene and lost power for 6 days. then I've been busy making soap because I've got 2 shows coming up - one in two weeks and the...

glenolam's madness - April passed away

I read that thread a while ago and thought to do just that, but don't have any ACV and really really wanted chicken soup tonight. It'll definitely be on the to-do list next time I cook a meatie roast!

glenolam's madness - April passed away

Well....the bigger monkeys are taking their sweet time. The good part is that we're not all city-corporate since we're still somewhat out in the country. I've made everyone fully aware of my 2nd full and a half time job at home, explaining that I'm not a "let's have a martini at happy hour and...

I got into something - and it ain't good

Jewel weed is a great home remedy for poison ivy. You break the stems at the roots and squeeze the juice out and rub it on your skin. It's not the best relief, though...if what you have is poison ivy or oak or sumac it sounds like you need a steriod asap. Hope you get better!

glenolam's madness - April passed away

Just a quick update - I might be incognito for a bit (not that I haven't been lately anyway). There's some good stuff happening that takes away my SS computer time, but that should be resolved within a month or two. Nothing too new at the farm. Ended up with 26 keets, 2 which are white, 2...

    Hen23's Journal~Goodbye

Hi Hen! Just stopping in really quickly. TONS going on at work - good stuff - so I'll be on pretty sparsly for a while, but I wanted to tell you to have a great vacation! We're going to camp at Hopeville the last full week of August. We like it there because it's so close to home that we...

glenolam's madness - April passed away

Now we're up to 26 keets and 1 has pipped. 7 eggs (incudling the pipped one) left in the incubator..what a good hatch! So - guess what we got this weekend? Some new mousers! My MIL had a cat named frankie who ended up pregnant (she got pregnant before coming to MIL's house) and she had 5...

glenolam's madness - April passed away

We're up to 20 with 1 that was working it's way out of the egg as I left this morning. We watched one hatch last night about 7 pm and it was another lavender one so now we've got 2 white, 2 lavender and the pearls/peid ones. When I got home there were 4 more keets but I couldn't tell if one of...

glenolam's madness - April passed away

Judging by this chart we have 2 white guineas...no idea where they came from because we don't have a single white guinea in our flock at all, some royal purple (we have 1 or 2 purple gals), a bunch of pied (which we knew) and a bunch of pearls (which we also knew). Those white ones...

glenolam's madness - April passed away

:lau All the more greatful I am for living so far off the road! Ours have been known to visit the neighbors, but so far no one complains. Afterall, they all have dogs and when their dogs come home with less fleas and ticks who can argue with that

glenolam's madness - April passed away

Actually, I didn't know that but it does make a lot of sense when you think about it! I usually put the newspaper down so they don't break their legs or get them caught in the wire cage bottom. I'll switch it out when I get home this afternoon - Thanks! I had 6 more hatch overnight for a total...
