    multi-purpose cleaner or countertop cleaner/disinfector

I love love love the Windex multiuse cleaner spray and use it for everything, but it's starting to look really expensive now that I'm making my own laundry detergent and all ;) I tried diluting bleach into a squirt bottle but that just doesn't leave the countertops as nice looking as I...

    Slow food....what do you think?

This is saying that a group called the Big Ag are trying to make taking photos of farms in Iowa, Florida and Minnesota illegal. http://www.slowfoodusa.org/index.php/slow_food/blog_post/goats_pigs_cows_farm_dogs_ready_for_their_close-ups/

Goat has scabs around her eyes *PIC

Malory has these scabs that circle her eyes. Her eyes are not infected and are not cloudy, but they are runny. It doesn't seem to itch her at all and the missing hair isn't present anywhere else other than her eyes. I've read it could be mange, but given that the missing hair isn't anywhere...

I need someone to design a picture or logo for my soaps

I'm at the point where I want a nicer looking soap wrap. Right now I just use something quick I made up on Microsoft Publisher. I'd be happy to email an example. I'm looking to keep the same idea as I have now, but I want to change the picture in the middle of the soap wrap. Currently it's...

Goat people - buckling has an eye issue

Opi's little buckling was squinting yesterday so I picked him up. He's keeping his left eye closed and when I opened it the "third eye lid" was about 1/2 way onto his eye and would move back in periodically. They eye itself wasn't red or cloudy that I could see, but it was watery. He's acting...

Trimming goat hooves - am I really that much of a perfectionist?

Here's the scoop. Most of you know I've had the same few does for quite some time. I'll admit I'm attached to them and take great pride in their health. Afterall, healthy goats = less you really have to do for them, right? I don't go around checking hooves on a weekly or even monthly basis...

    Tanning a red fox hide

So, let's say 'a friend' killed a fox that was trying to eat one of his guinea hens (quite literally). And 'that friend' has had the fox in the freezer since the end of January. All legal, of course, since it was taken during our red fox season. Can I tan the hide myself? What would that take...

    Marking hens to tell age

So.....if I'm the only one who has issues telling hens apart then :hide But when we get up to 40 birds at a time I loose sight over who's who. Since a winter massacre took place we're down to 8 layers (although we're only getting 3 eggs/day), 4 roosters and some guineas and so I'm getting back...

    Wethering bucks

I'd like to hear opinions on wethering bucks. At what age do you wether? What method do you use? I choose to band bucks at 8 weeks of age. The only reasons I have for this method are that I'm too cheap to buy a burdizzio and there's no way I'm cutting the testicles out. I do it at/around 8...

glenolam's madness - April passed away

Like ohiogoatgirl I've lingered here long enough I figured I'd do myself some good and sign up so I could join in the conversations!! Those of you also on BYH know I have goats, chickens, cows and "inside" animals. My husband and I try to be 'backyard farmers' but it is so freaking hard...
