How many people here are prepared for an emergency?

Thanks. We're still working our way through knowing next winter will be better than this one ... our first winter on the new farm.

How many people here are prepared for an emergency?

Prepared for an emergency? We seem to deal with them on a regular basis. We wanted to go "off grid" when we moved down here and we're doing so ... with the loss of one system after another.

Anyone use hickory nuts as supplemental animal feed?

Well, like I mentioned, we've got a lot, including the "shag bark" hickory which has large oblong nuts that are actually quite tasty. If we can find a reasonable way to harvest and crack, I believe it will work out nicely for us.

    Goat Milking Question

    Goat Milking Question

We have a couple of goats we milk and my girlfriend has heard some people milk just once a day vs. our twice a day routine. Does anyone have experience with this, comments, or recommendations? Is it hard on the goats? Will milk production drop? Botar
