I looked and can't find Martha Washington asparagus seeds anymore o_O but victory seeds has Mary Washington, first released in 1919. Mary Washington comes from the Washington line.

Supposed to harvest April through May, it's March 17th, so about 2 weeks ahead of schedule. Martha Washington has a sweet nutty taste and is way different than store-bought. My opinion... Martha Washington grown from seed is most definitely worth the effort, it's what I remember asparagus...
I need to put a drain in those kiddie pools, make my life easier. Thinking about putting a valve stem for tire rim as a drain.

2024 grafted peaches, I believe I'm done grafting peaches this season. We'll set out the takers in the orchard this fall. Learning to graft is the most cost effective way I know of to get a orchard established.

Last night, tank and I grafted pear scions I harvested back in February onto Pyrus OHxF97 rootsocks. I purchased the rootstocks from Fedco last season and babysat them over the growing season.
We grafted 6 varieties of pears. I believe we did a good job but we'll have to wait and see. The...
Tank and I (mainly I, tank doesnt have thumbs) finished siding the chicken shack. Just doors, 6 nest boxes a few perches and the chickens will be ready to move in. They can poop all they want in rotational gardens. I was just informed we are getting 50 CCX chickens also 😋
Tank hanging with my...
Overcast, 50 degrees light winds from the north. Almighty woke me this morning, so its going to be a great day. Enjoy your day, I know I will :)
Picture of tank from a few days ago, pointing out the obvious. There are cattle on his property, that he did not authorize! It's looking like he's a...
Any ideas what breed of chicken this is? Look at the gray legs and gray and tan toes. They sing pretty songs. It's time to move them out of the brooder.

We are under tornado watch (not warning). We had some very high winds and a little thunder and large rain drops roll through. Looks worse north of us on the radar. I hope everyone stays safe and is OK.

I checked the remaining peach grafts that have not broke bud yet. I checked by cutting a ultra thin flap of bark to expose the cambium layer on the grafted scions. All the scions' cambium layer is still green. This a great sign and means all the scions are all still alive, so there is still...
Its been two weeks since peach rootstock had been grafted. 7 of 12 grafts took, that's approximately 58%. Three more are showing promise, but haven't broke bud yet, so they don't count.
I'll see if I can find some scions out of the orchard and re-graft, if not then I'll baby sit the rootstocks...
Torch followed by a box blade is common practice around here. Once you initially burn, then scrape the weeds out. It's just regular scheduled maintenance with a box blade to keep the driveway smooth, rut and weed free.

FB's roses needed more dirt. So off come the mulch, then the weed fabric, add dirt, replace weed fabric and mulch. I felt a sweat bead roll down into my eye. :D tank is passed out, tearing top soil bags is hard work for a pup.
