    POTUS Impeachment Trials

I do not think it is respectful to lump all members of a party together - I read several statements about “the Democrats” this or that. I have left two other websites because of the negativity and assumptions, especially about people who do not support President Trump. Why stir this up? Isn’t...

    Simply Sheep

I think I will need pictures of this system to understand it. No rush LOL. I am mechanically challenged so I really admire you for coming up with these ideas and at least a first draft on how to make it happen. I am still working on best ways to hang chicken water dispensers- just nails and...

    Deceptive Site

Maybe homesteaders are a stealth revolution posing as gardeners and vintners?

What is your favorite Apple Variety and what do you use it for?

My husband and I thinned and picked apples for two summers in the 1970s recession. We were REALLY sick of apples ... until the next summer! They are amazing for the variety of tastes and uses. I have several old trees I can’t identify for sure but great taste. Otherwise it’s the classics -...

    Hello from north Idaho

Welcome. Thank you for bringing more wry humor to the site. Like you I think I learn much more than I could ever return with any first hand expertise but at least we are enthusiastic! I’ve gotten thought provoking and practical input that’s been helpful already and wish you the same.

    WHAT ARE YOU CANNING TODAY?

Thanks. I appreciate all the “go you!” responses. Most people I know would just think it too bad I didn’t “relax” instead. I can’t start to explain how relaxed doing that made me, especially followed by “well-deserved” (key word) hot tub soak. On to the rehabbed pantry next to this to paint...

    WHAT ARE YOU CANNING TODAY?

What I finally did with some of my vacation hours this week after years of intention. I painted shelves, laid down grip liner, threw out a lot that was chipped and rusted, washed, etc. It will be so much easier to can and dehydrate now. Happy.

    Pasture Improvement

Sheep!!! My longtime dream - I’ve only had acreage since 2012 and only lived on it since 2015 but when I retire that’s the big fun project. How did you all know?

    Cheap Treats

I didn’t realize that sheep and dogs loved them too. Thanks Beekissed & Baymule - I’m filing that away - I might get a couple of ewes after I retire.

    Muskrats

Have you asked neighbors for ideas? I have sometimes had good luck doing this over the years since they know the usual problems and solutions in the local area. There’s an app online called “next door” that is local. That might help too. Good luck!

    Cheap Treats

I did think about security but have some precautions and this is a trial run. So far only one person has dropped off pumpkins and I have picked up from about 8 families. Happy chickens and fun to see other people’s places etc.

    Pasture Improvement

I’m learning a lot here, thanks. I put the clover on about a month ago and before that just mowed regularly. I will be following the deer food suggestions & wildflowers next fall mostly (when we can count on rain - supposedly). When it comes up two summers from now I will let it mature - good...

    Wolf

I thought the “There, Wolf” was a play on “Babe” but I don’t go to scary movies so I missed the smelling-of-animals reference.

    Pasture Improvement

Oh, yes! I’m slowly cutting (firewood!) the silly line of trees at bottom slope - it’s west-facing. But I think another pear and 2 Italian plums - semi dwarf - to the north (right hand side). And deer mix - I can fence the trees until they’re taller. And maybe something in that rich soil that...

    Pasture Improvement

I appreciate the feedback. No thoughts of trees - everywhere else is wood lot and forest wetlands but I want a buffer from my house and mow regularly. Too many farmer ancestors to give up pasture I guess so you right on that. Can’t do 🐝 because niece deathly allergic (I am in a class & have...

    Propane

I have a propane heater in the rental trailer. My aunt lived there a while and thought that with the cost of a tank rental it was too much versus electric heat. She was pretty negative about things in general though so maybe it’s time for a rethink. I can check what buying a tank costs and...

    Pasture Improvement

Bay mule, you think like me (that’s a warning! 😱). I just got the last 11 perennial asters and mum’s at my local Ace Hardware for a quarter each! Waiting for bulbs to be on sale is a good idea!

    Pasture Improvement

This ^^ is why I need the website! Great idea. I like the local deer but never thought to feed them. I’m not a hunter either so I didn’t connect the deer mix with anything but baiting them. My yard dog will keep them out of the flower gardens and porches so no problems there. The dog is fenced...
