This fellow (Robert Markie) from Expert Village presents a series of 17 very useful short vids on using some basic tools, safely - mostly carpentry & woodworking tools, but he's also got ones on using a tap & dye and a pop-rivet tool. Very good, I believe, for someone who has had little or nothing to do with them. Gives a good sense of what these real basic tools are - beyond the hammer, screwdriver, square, straightedge, and so on that everyone knows. Can help in deciding what tool might be a good next choice.

There's a playlist that will show up at the bottom of the page, showing all the vids in this little series. At the right-hand side of the page, there's a list of some good related vids.

The biggest message, though: use YouTube to learn to do things, including DIY & homested stuff.
