We've received some feedback regarding the following rule to which everyone agrees before joining our wonderful community:

Regarding "Freedom of Speech":
This is a very interpretable statement. SS does NOT support "freedom of speech" in the traditional sense. You can not come on this forum and talk about adult topics, porn, drugs, hate speech, etc. SS was not established as a forum of freedom of expression... there are other forums out there that allow this, but we promise 99.3% of you won't like them as much as you like SS (for the .7% that do, they usually end up being unhappy here and some get banned).
This also applies to questioning moderation and currently to political topics. If people vising our community don't like our rules, and the tone which we work hard to maintain, they can find other places to express themselves more "freely". (watch out for the guys in long trench coats).

We'd LOVE to allow full and open discussions of all topics, including politics. The problem is that every time we let political topics (and even some less divisive topics) continue, they always result in TONS of reports, hurt feelings, and lots of extra and unnecessary work for our moderators.

I'll extend the promise that I've made before: If we can all ensure that we work hard to 1) Not offend 2) Not be offended (both of which will result in fewer reported posts) then we will promptly be way more relaxed on our rules and the topics and discussions we allow.

So, ball is in your court. :)

Again, thanks to all the members that respect the rules to which they agreed when joining and that work hard to maintain a happy and friendly learning and discussion environment.

Cheers!

Just give them a link to a forum creation page :D

They can create their own forum with their own rules. Of course ranting to yourself does get tiring after a while... :gig

It's a simple concept. Nifty's forum Nifty's rules.

Haha! I do ALL my ranting to myself. I'm the only one that will listen!

Seriously, though, I do appreciate the relatively non-confrontational exchange in SS. Thanks for your hard work on that, moderators! :clap.
