The other day GM and Citi get de-listed. New housing starts were lower than expected and unemployment continues to climb..... and the market went UP?

This to me shows that the market is still unhinged from true market forces, it is all speculators playing with each other. GM is worthless yet it still trades.

But, things are turning around folks we're seeing rays of hope! (I think the light at the end of the tunnel is an oncoming train!)

I am tired of feeling like the paranoid nutjob - just beccause I am paranoid doesn't mean someone isn't after me! I told people for four years that the economy was collapsing, then it did and people STILL act like nothing happened!~ I told DH I honestly think they may be able to prop this zombie economy up for another 30 years, which seems like a long time to some people, but my kids will only be in their 30s! Then I think she's a going south in a big way if we don't fix this train wreck!

<--- Also not impressed with anything that GM has made.

Want some more confusion? Here in Colorado the unemployment rate dropped 1/10th of a point a month ago. Supposedly, they are expecting us to recover faster from the recession faster than everyone else. Current unemployment rate (for April) is 7.4% while the national average is at 8.9%. I'm hoping and thinking it's because of the states recent big push into a "Green Economy". We get sun, here just north of Denver, at least 300 days of the year. Near us a factory is expected to open that makes the blades for wind turbines and another for some part of the motor (same company). I'm crossing fingers that our country will pull out of this soon.

I was watching Suze Orman a few months ago and she was stating that the market would drop and raise a few times before hitting bottom and that she expected bottom to be around the end of fall. What you are probably seeing in the GM stock is people thinking that GM is at one of the lowest prices ever, assuming that the government will come in with a massive rescue plan and buying stock like kids in a candy store. They'll wait for the stock to rise and then they'll make a killing. I'd be joining them (but not with GM) if we had the extra cash around.

In future, any car stock I own will be with a company that is dedicated to producing more fuel efficient and "greener" vehicles. I'm hoping someone will release a diesel minivan. Then, I could try to make my own biodiesel for it. I need a minivan because I have a home daycare.

The only think that is keeping Colorado slighter better than most is TABOR. Too bad the politicians have been doing their best to undermine it ever since it passed.

As the company declared bankruptcy the stock is without value. They will simply declare it worthless and after full reorganization reissue new stock. Anyone holding the old stock is left holding the bag! Only very occasionally with a reorganization will the stock get you a percentage of new stock certificates, but they have already said this stuff is toilet paper.

The govt owns 60% of GM. The company has downsized drastically, they have dumped all their creditors and are going to be in good shape. I wouldn't be at all surprised if they make a full recovery. They are basically a new company now. Same with Chrysler. The stimulus although very costly is pushing the economy in the right direction. Of course those that were against it will say that the economy was going to rebound anyway. We'll never know. Let's hope it gets better soon. I doubt that Tabor has anything to do with Colorado being in better shape than other places. More likely it's because we have more tech based stuff as well as green manufacturing. Glad I live here though.

30 years is good. I should be in a hole by then.
