I got this from PioneerWoman.com site. She calls it Scrumptious Apple Pie - and it is!
1 pie crust in pie pan, unbaked
6 to 7 apples, peeled & sliced
juice of 1/2 lemon
1/2 cup sugar
4 T flour
1/4 tsp salt
In a bowl, mix peeled apples, lemon juice, sugar, flour and salt. Set aside.
1/2 cup flour
1 1/2 sticks butter (3/4 cup)
1 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup oats
1/4 tsp salt
Cut butter into the flour with a pastry cutter, then add in brown sugar, oats and salt. This is your crumb topping. Set aside.
Add apples to prepared pie shell and top with crumb topping. (Place on a cookie sheet - its messy) Cover crust edge with aluminum foil and bake at 375F for 25 minutes. Remove the foil from crust and and place back in the oven for 25 minutes.
Sprinkle on top of the pie
1/2 cup pecans, chopped
Return pie to oven for 5 minutes. Remove the pie from the oven.
Pour over the top.
1/2 jar of caramel ice cream topping
Allow the pie to cool slightly before serving.
