Applesauce Buttermilk Cake - its what for dinner!

APPLESAUCE BUTTERMILK CAKE

2C.FLOUR
1t.cinnamon
1t.b.soda
1/4t.salt
1/2c.butter
1c.sugar
2 eggs
1c.each applesauce and buttermilk
1c.chopped nuts(opt.)
1t.nutmeg


In a bowl stir together flour,cinnamon,soda ,nutmeg and salt. set aside. In a large bowl cream butter and sugar til light,beat in eggs until well-blended. stir in applesauce and buttermilk. gradually stir in flour mixture til blended. stir in nuts. pour into greased 9"pan. bake in pre-heated oven at 350 for 40 -45 minutes or til pick inserted comes out clean. cool in pan on rack. serve from pan. 8 servings.

Yum! We will be canning 2 bushels of apples into sauce at church on Sunday. I think I will save some for this cake! :D

Oooooh, that sounds good. I'm picturing a brown-sugar frosting or caramely glaze, along with a nice big mug of tea. Maybe tonight? I really, really need to get started on my windfall sauce before all the yellow jackets ruin them!
