Yes. For all intents and purposes i am retired. I only work when i want to or if i need money for a project. I have free electricity from the sun, grow most of my food, home and land are paid off, no bills, plenty of fun things to do in the garden, science projects, cats and SS forum to keep me company. What me worry?

Not yet because I work outside the home full-time. I am going to try to get back into nursing, if my feet can hold me up long enough, because 32 hours of nursing will cancel out 84 hours of my other easy job. I need more time home to get this place running like I want it. I am working @ it. Went to work nursing last night...kinda hurt today. But its the only way I can see being able to spend more time home.

We're getting close. We have paid off all of our debts, except for the farm, and unfortunately we are still paying for the house we just moved from. So our next step is to hopefully get the old place sold asap without taking too much of a hit. (we already have resigned ourselves to the fact that we are going to lose money on it. *sigh*) Then we are planning on building our energy-efficient, passive solar little dream house with cash. After that, we will really have no debts, so I will hopefully be able to quit my job, which I detest, and find something more enjoyable - or maybe just be a farmer! After so many years of dreaming, it feels really good to be so close to our goals. Hopefully we don't hit any major snags this year so our plans can move forward. :fl

FC - what about you? :)

We're much closer to where we want to be now than we were a few years ago.

Our land payment is only $50.00 more on the month than we were paying for rent back in TN so we see that as a positive step in the right direction...at least we have something to show for it.

We had some rough times, financially, after we first moved out here and there were times that we weren't sure if we were gonna make it or not. But doc finally has a good job, which he enjoys and we're finally get caught back up. We both wish he was here at home more (he works 60+ hours a week, most weeks) but I do what I can by myself and he helps when he has a few days off.

We're getting there, slowly but surely!

I'm where I want to be. Granted, there will always be things that I wish that we had, but we certainly have all that we need. The only bills that we have are the property tax (at about $60 per year, and I can certainly live with it), utilities, and insurances. We drive so little, that we only have to top off the gas tank in our vehicle once a month. We have the animals and the birds to supply us with a decent percentage of our food, and that percentage is getting larger each year. I have my little pension and the wife has a part time job where she works a day or two a week, or not at all depending on how she feels. Life is good.

I wish we were a little more ss, but we took another step in that direction today and got 2 feeder pigs. We also need to move out to our old place as soon as we find something to live in out there. Other than that life is good and God is taken real good care of us. So I guess I can't complain!
