Attic stair insulation cover

My DH made this to cover the stairs/opening in to the attic. Its made out of pink styrofoam board cut to the pull-down stair openings dimensions. Seems to work pretty good for not letting the heat escape up through there..

DH made one years ago. It makes a HUGE difference in both hot and cold weather!

You know I Never even though about that hole. Did you have a lot of heat loss through there? Maybe we need to build one of those. Thanks for sharing.

That's funny!!

Well, it wasn't a tight seal so I do think we lost some heat..heat rises right? And that was before he installed the programmable thermostats. They seem to help regulate the temps better..less with the furnace running/stopping/running, etc.

Nice job!

We just have a tiny attic door inside our bedroom closet. The attic is well insulated, but the door wasn't. So we put some batting up against it, which made a real difference.
