The INTERNATIONAL REDNECK INNOVATION SOCIETY OF REJECTS has declared a winner in our annual CRAPTASTIC PALLET COOKOFF!

Please note that no pallets were actually cooked or consumed for this contest.

In the Pallet Division, a contestant known only as BAYMULE requested anonymity and did not provide a real name or forwarding address. Here at the IRISOR we pride ourselves on accepting all who apply. We protect the guilty as well as the innocent. Except jaywalkers. Jaywalkers are BAD, leading to hit and run, causing idiots to spend time in prison for something that wasn’t their fault.

BAYMULE’S entry was carefully scrutinized for originality, construction, duplication, cost of materials, architecture, splinters, and ambiance. We scoured the internet and last night’s Mac n’ Cheese pot and found NOTHING to compare it to.

BAYMULE’S entry won the Pallet Division Contest! BAYMULE got bonus points for keeping sheep in the front yard. It’s a short walk to shoot something for supper.

However those same sheep have been plotting on a sneak attack under the Doublewide, where they could wreak havoc on plumbing and wiring, causing great damage and expensive repairs. They were found under the porch, looking innocent and discussing their plan of destruction. The dog listened intently to their diabolical plans and ratted them out.

BAYMULE lost no time in loading the dog in the back of the truck and driving to the local hardware store for free pallets. Once back home, BAYMULE constructed an impermeable barrier around the porch, using a beautiful blue hay string to tie things together, 3” deck screws, wire 1 Red River panel a half of a hog panel and 2 T-posts for good luck.

There is a thoughtful low cut in the row of splintery pallets. This took no planning, absolutely no measurements, no skill and no advice from the stray cat that leaves muddy paw prints on the hood of the truck.

This is so the dog, who shares the front yard with the sheep, can jump on the porch to escape them. The sheep are angry because he foiled their evil plans and they try to run him down. BAYMULE thinks he acts as their guardian, when in reality he is barking madly at coyotes, in sign language, yelling COME GET THE SHEEP I HATE THEM! So far, no coyotes have taken him up on that offer.

The INTERNATIONAL REDNECK INNOVATION SOCIETY OF REJECTS

Proudly presents the winner of the CRAPTASTIC PALLET COOKOFF!

BAYMULE has been awarded 43 pierce of used rusty on one side, corrugated roofing tin.

If anyone knows the whereabouts of BAYMULE or where BAYMULE might reside, please remind BAYMULE that we are still holding those prized 43 pieces of used rusty roofing tin and would appreciate immediate pick up. It’s been several months since the conclusion of the CRAPTASTIC PALLET COOKOFF and the IRISOR is beginning to suspect BAYMULE May, in fact be a Jaywalker! This is being diligently investigated and if in fact is found to be true, BAYMULE will be disqualified and the prize of 43 pieces of used rusty on one side corrugated roofing tin shall be rescinded.

I think baymule should be awarded bonus tin for porch roof slanting the wrong way. 😂 (camera angle)

Homestead protected by guard sheep. I see nothing wrong with this picture.

When it was Cooper and Dessa, they were ok. They never went under the porch. Then I put the young ewes with him. These are the same hooligans that, as weanlings, laid under son’s trailers at his house, to escape last summer’s heat. So cute to call and watch them come scrambling out from under the trailer! Until……. months later when son was in for a few days and hooked up his trailer and the lights didn’t work. He looked under his trailer and saw wires dangling. Wires dangling with bite marks all over them. Little lambs with cutting teeth itchies that cut their teeth on trailer wires. Hooligans! I tell you, hooligans.

Then I put these same devil children in my front yard and they went under the porch. It would be pretty easy to knock down the underskirting. I’m leaving Sunday for a week. I have some wire I can attach to the porch supports under the porch, next to the house. It will allow them and the dog to escape the summer heat. The wire won’t show, it will keep the Hooligans off the underskirting, and they won’t get into mischief.

These tacky pallets were fast and easy to put up. The wire will require me to crawl under the porch and probably take all day-a day I don’t have right now.

The CRAPTASTIC PALLET COOKOFF at least gives me peace of mind while I’m gone.

Looks Wonderful!! you have done so much work !!

thank you! sometimes i think my only purpose here is to go around and clean up messes that others have made (looks at Mom :) - ex-step-dad is long gone and now deceased so...). it's ok. i went to her this morning after getting up and turning up the heat, got the hot water in the faucets ready for her to get out of bed. so i kissed her on the head and said i love you. she asked me if i was ok... lol

If you stay longer it may be less work to reclaim a portion of that back field area behind it. That's a lotta rock!! 😁

behind it is a large drainage ditch so that back area on the other side is not easily accessible. it's like wasted space as far as i'm concerned. at one time i was thinking i would get some cider apple trees growing back there but they'd need fencing to protect them from the deer. no time to get back there very often. brush hog it once in a while.

as for moving the gravel path over, that would be very easy and could be done in a week - especially since there's a place there already where the gravel can go to fill it in (the low spot that now contains pea gravel).

reclaiming garden space from the sod area out back will take several weeks minimum and i may not get it all done. no idea what the spring and early summer weather is going to be like. once we get too busy projects get put on hold until the fall or the next year. i need to get the front driveway edges done before i do anything else.

I want free pallets
where do go I, Yoda
Try a local construction company. I know my FH employer gets stuff on pallets all the time and they eventually get so many pallets that in order to discard them without actually taking them to a dump (landfill) they allow people to haul them away.
