DIY Chick Electrolyte

I have some shipped chicks coming and I want to make an electrolyte for them.
I found a few recipes.
Some say Molasses or Sugar.
Most recipes say regular sugar.

Which would be best?


1c warm water
2 tsp of Molasses or sugar
1/8 tsp Salt
1/8 tsp baking soda
Optional: 1/8 tsp Potassium chloride

I would use molasses if you have it, that is what I give mine but I think that you would be fine with either

I do have some and I honestly prefer to use it in replace of sugar as often as I can.

I prefer molasses, black strap, in it's purest form. I also add some calcium water? Simply soak oyster shell in water overnight, pour off.

I have calcium powder for jams and jelly.
