Farm Hack is a system of networking and events produced by interested farmers, ag students, design students, some of their instructors, and others. It's all about experimentation and design development.

"Community-based design" is a term they use. Usefulness and practical aplicability are the goals. Repurposing of components, parts, materials and such can all fit into the fabrication aspect.

The video at the top of the page gives a better explanation of what this project and these people are about than I can give in writing. (I think the message really comes across starting at about the 24-second point and onward.)

Here's a good example of what's becoming available on Farm Hack. This particular example is about small-scale "axial flow threshing systems, harvest heads, and grain/bean separating approaches" - useful for people raising grains or beans on a homestead or small-farm scale.

Like I say, this is simply one example of what is being offered on the Farm Hack site. A lot of detailed info, and good audio-visual demonstration, of innovative equipment for a small farm.
