About 2 hours from home tonight

Kids. They amaze you when they grow and overcome obstacles. Makes you feel good as a parent when they quietly demonstrate that they are listening to you.

We talked about canning this year. I was floored. Both girls want peas and carrots. They happily reminisced about me growing both in the garden when they were kids and how store bought doesn't compare.

This means a lot to me

I have help setting up my office.

This morning's adventure. Low 60s, no humidity.

I have become a curmudgeon. Sang happy songs in my head to the joy of hearing "we only want the big red ones" "that one is not ripe, throw it down" picking strawberries with the non latex gloves and masks (whole family?)

And then "how is that old guy filling up his bucket so quickly?" There were enough good people trying, though, one family asked for advice. Not a total loss. Lol

They are still in road construction season that away, just as an fyi. I know that Interstate 94 was down to 2 lanes both ways this past weekend--makes for a lovely mess.

Lots of road construction on 94 in WI too Hopefully it won't be too bad for you all

Hey, I'll take the son for garden help

The boy hated helping when he was younger. Hated it. I think he just wants to drive the tractor! But seriously, in our conversations about ideas, he clearly was paying attention to what I was trying to teach him all those years ago. He correctly recommended the right size flock for what I was thinking, as well as priority garden foods

All three kids are asking how soon they can get fresh eggs.

Painting discussions underway.

Me: I see three gray samples
Her: one has yellow undertones, one blue undertones, one purple undertones, which do you prefer
Me: they are grey....

The curio cabinets and bookcase contents packed. Everything done in the living room except for the electronics, plus wife's candles and family photos. 8 boxes taped up, tagged, and ready to go.

The cats are very concerned.
