Okay, so we've learned that we can freeze butter and cheese, and we all knew it's okay to freeze milk. Can I freeze cream cheese? And it still be usable for baking?

Thanks!

The texture is off and It tastes funny to me after freezing. I just don't do it. If you were using some in baking it might be ok.

Tried it too. Kinda yucky afterward. It gets crumbly and the watery part separates. They don't stir back together well. I didn't want to waste it, but it was lousy for my bagels.

yea I tried to freeze it and I didn't like the results after either, I guess something just aren't meant for that deep freeze and this is one of them. which drives me crazy cause no one else likes cream cheese and I buy it and never finish it.

good for baking? don't know...never tried

oh edited to say---sad it doesn't freeze well cause they had a buy one get one free sale on my Philly cream cheese and I couldn't buy 10---eat 1--freeze 9
:p :D

It's fine if you are going to cook with it. Like when I add it to soups. But not for anything that I want the cream cheese as a main ingredient.

I have found that, if it is beaten hard enough (mixer or processor) it will go back to a creamy enough state to use in cheesecake, for example (my cheesecake recipe is baked; can't say how this would work for an unbaked pie). For spreading on a bagel, no. However, take a look at the expeiration date on the box. It is usually way out there (so long as unopened). Since noticing this I will buy several packages, and just keep them in the 'fridge with no problem. Not any good for long term storage, but quite adequate for the mid to short term.
