Today one of Sam's nurses suggested that I have her tested for fructose malabsorption based on the inflamation that has always been going on inside her body. ie swollen tonsils, inflamed lungs etc. Apparently this nurse suffers from it and was sick her whole life too with many of Sam's symptoms.

She said a "Paleo" diet (minus dairy *yup even the raw* and fruit and a few other things higher in fructose like coconut and some nuts) is the best diet for someone with fructose malabsorption. Since she switched she has never been healthier.

(The test for fructose malabsorption is simply a breath test.)

Info on fructose malabsorption:

Paleo foods:

Non Paleo foods:
http://lowcarbdiets.about.com/od/paleodietcavemandiet/a/paleoforbidden.htm

Anyway, just wondering if any of the food gurus out there have heard of it.

I would lean towards finding out the source for the malabsorption, and seek ways to deal with it, rather then kicking out whole real food groups.
Something is out of balance for sure.

Paleo will make a person feel fabulous for an extended amount of time, but in the end, too much protein wreaks havoc.

ah-HA! Thanks! Now how would I go about finding out why?

Yeah, I wasn't keen on going paleo. No dairy = No fun

I guess start with studying all about the issue.
I will poke around and see what I can dig up.

I will say this. Its very likely, considering that your daughter has dealt with some extreme physical issues, that she probably has adrenal fatigue.

She is 14.

She has been sick her whole life with pneumonia, 14 times. They finally found out why, it is all caused by a swollen tonsil in her throat. It is sitting on her vocal chord causing one to not close all the way. She has been silently aspriating due to it.

Unfortunately up until recently the dr.s have misdiagnosed her with asthma. (She sounds like Darth Vader when she breaths.) She has been on inhaled sterroids most of her life. (I told the drs that it wasn't working! :he Now I know why.)

ANyway the last time she had pneumonia (9-5-10) she almost died, well, she did die but they brought her back to life. She has been recovering ever since.

To make a long story short, she's had it pretty rough. Adrenal fatigue would make sense. She has been a tad on the heavy side too.
