Waded outside this morning to survey the overnight damage. I checked the trusty home weather station and it revealed that our windspeed overnight never topped 20mph. However, it toppled one of the neighbors trees onto my fence. Yay...not. Also blew some crate pads that I had hanging on the fence all the way across the yard - in the opposite direction that the tree fell. Toppled a freestanding wire chicken coop in a third direction... Seems like we had some rotation going on - thankfully only baby winds to back it up!

Just to add to my workload - the tomato screen house is missing a large portion of the screen, but it did offer up a couple of beautiful cherry tomatoes for my breakfast. I'll have to get that put back up ASAP. Later, I wandered into the raised bed area later and plucked about a half-dozen ears of corn that were begging for some butter. My entire harvest of corn will probably be less than a dozen ears. I planted too early and had terrible germination because of it. I planned to replant - but never got it done. However - it is delicious! I need to order some more seeds for next year.

Have a guy coming tomorrow for a couple of bucklings. Always nice to lower the feed bill.

Oh - surprise, surprise. More rain coming.

How was Galveston? With all the rain we have been getting, a tour of an insane asylum sounds enticing. I went to the Blueberry Festival in downtown Nacogdoches yesterday. Never been, didn't stay long. Was the typical food vendors, fried oreos, fried pickles, fried everything, funnel cakes, anything on a stick, ect. The farmers market was better. Plus all kinds of crafty crap that i don't need or want. I don't know where they were hiding the blueberries, only ones I saw was at the farmers market. And of course it rained on the way home.

Haven't been yet. Waiting for a better day. At this point - maybe October, lol. So much on my "gotta get it done" list. I don't think I'll ever see the bottom of that list. This constant rain isn't helping at all. Along with everything else that needs to be done I need to get some coccidia prevention to the young 'uns, along with another round of deworming. Need to cut up the tree that fell yesterday, re-screen the screen house and get some weed whacking done before my entire place disappears in a forest of spiny pig weed and other various green monsters. Need to move a round bale but wouldn't ya know it - my favorite farm helper has a dead battery. Love my tractor but whoever designed where that battery goes should be hanged by the pinky toes and whipped with wet noodles.
