... I've got some velveeta so gonna give it a try. I'm gonna have the most well-fed catfish in history, lol.

cheese goes well on fish fillet sandwiches (learned from McD's many years ago). :)

i've not done that myself in ages as we don't usually make fish fillets or sandwiches - just fish sticks and canned sardines...

Well poo! DH's surgery has been postponed until Oct11. ARGH! Not happy about it - we are so ready to get this behind us!

Had a good rain yesterday and we're getting off and on showers now. Not gonna gripe too much about it -because we've been pretty dry - but I do not like mud! That's all I'm gonna say.

I'm cautiously optimistic that the big Boer has been successful with at least one of the does in his harem. She was bred on 9/5 and I haven't seen her cycle since then. If we get through a few more days I'll feel pretty secure that she settled. If so - we should expect delivery around 2/2/25. Time will tell....

Found out the other day that our insurance co and the PT group we use have cut ties. We've spent months and months with these folks so it's kinda like losing a friend. I guess after DH's surgery we'll have to break in a new group of PT'ers. Always something...

Finally! Finally we have a little bit of that dry, crisp, cool air! Woo hoo! It's been a long time coming. Not perfect though because we'll still hit 93 today. However with the lack of humidity 93 is not as horrible as it could be. Hope to get some outside work done today.

Got out early to feed the fish. A little foggy over the water.

I can't even explain how much I love the pond. It is a place of peace for me and I find that I need that quite often lately.

Found some broccoli and cabbage starts yesterday so I snatched 'em up. Don't even care that I didn't start them from seeds. Don't even care that they're not organic or heirloom varieties. I've got green things to put in the ground! Whoop!

Pretty good day! Texans won! It wasn't pretty - but a win is a win.

Did a few things. Didn't get anywhere near the bottom of the list.

Made the goats happy and put out a new bale for them. Made them a little less happy by giving some copper to some of them. That'll be an ongoing process as I catch them until they've all had their dose.

Brought up a cart full of barn gold and spread it on a bed. Tomorrow I'm going to put down some cardboard and try to get green things planted. I've got lots of hay to put on top of the cardboard so it won't look so tacky. I'll also need to work on fencing for that area because I took it down to make it easier to mow and weed whack.

Need to re-arrange goats again. One of the new ones isn't being accepted very well, so I'm going to put her back with her Myotonic boyfriend and the Myo does. She's been with them previously and it worked out.

I dug out some sheet metal that's been stored so long that it's at the bottom of the "I might need it someday" pile, lol. I need to basically rebuild a small shelter in one of the pens. The bones are good, but it needs a roof and two walls. This is a small shelter that was built back when I had the pygmy goats. It'll work well for the Myotonics too. I need to put up a hoop house in another area. Hurricane Beryl took down the one I had. So much to do and so little time.

Started a pot of soup at half-time and let it simmer for a while. It's smelling pretty good, and I've worked up an appetite, so I need to dish up a couple bowls.

Got out fairly early this morning. Gotta beat the heat that is still plaguing us...sigh. We're headed for a high of 95 today. What the heck?

Separated goats - again. Put a doe with a buck, lol. Basic stuff. Separated the Nubian and NubX's into their own pen. They all need to gain weight and the rest of the crew are way too tubby. This way I can manage their feed intake easier.

Need to do tons of fence work and dirt work and all manner of upkeep around here. It's slow going. I'm not even exaggerating that my to do list is ridiculously long. Waiting for a break in the heat for some of it - some other stuff MUST be done before we get rain. Tractor time coming up!

I had to catch and pen a goat with an eye issue. She's not exactly catchable or loveable. Weirdo! But, after a couple days of trying I managed to trap her in a kidding pen. Once caught she surprised me by being fairly amenable to her situation. Maybe this time will convince her that I'm not a monster. Nah,, lol!

Headed to town this morning to pick up a few things. Don't wanna, but guess I gotta.
