eBay tip when ordering a new product off eBay (not an auction).

Look for the manufacturer part number. Then search on that part number. When the results come back, sort using filters for lowest price plus shipping. Now pick the lowest price from 3 or 4 different sellers and add them all to your cart. Sit back and wait until "Offers" come in from a few of the sellers. These Offers are often discounted by as much as 30%. Select the lowest priced offer by selecting buy now and BAM you just saved some money. Now remove the itkrms from your cart.

Offers usually take a minimum of 48 hours from the time you place the item in your cart. It just depends on how badly the seller wants to sell the item, I guess...

Well the NASATech insulation is finally secured on the door. Next I need to spray foam the sides and she'll be insulated.

Worked right to left, cut full 16 foot. Like it said the tape ATA tape is like some kind of science experiment. As soon as you peel the paper it does some weird reaction with the air and anything that comes into contact with it gets stuck for good, ain't never seen any thing like it. I know what I'll use for mouse boards now though

Even though it's freezing outside and the wind is wicked from the north, my wife and I are comfy in the cave at 68 degrees with the heat pump. No way this could have been possible without insulating the garage door. Most definitely time and money well spent. Sometimes my ideas work out, other times not so much. This time, the old space between my ears, did real good :) hopefully this little homestead improvement thread, will help someone in the future.

I think I'd use 1" styrofoam, cut to fit each panel, and "Mickey Mouse" attaching each foam piece to the panels. I had considered just blocking off the door area with styrofoam, and moving them as necessary. That would work well for me, with the overhead door to the garage under the bedroom end of the house, IF we replaced the pass door. I keep my tools, chicken feed, and we keep our wood down there. So... no need to plan on parking a car. The pass door is about 10 years beyond requiring replacement, so is not functional.

Total PITA, but we about got it licked now. We are working our way from the bottom to the top and we passed the hardest part the lock and handle.

The NASATech insulation made both my wife and I sweat just working with it, the stuff is crazy reflective. You get near it and you can feel YOUR OWN heat reflecting off of it back on to you. The ATA tape my Son gave me is just as strange... You stick it on and as soon as you peel off the paper it's like super sticky shrink wrap. Whatever the tape touches is bond for good ain't no peeling it of at all.

How big is that door? How often will you be opening and closing it?

I would worry that insulating it would be adding too much weight.

Friend of mine used fiberglass insulation duct taped in. I don't have a garage so never even thought about it.
