So, here we are! After 20+ years of being in the Army, DH had his arm twisted to bring us back to the Ft Campbell KY area for retirement. We arrived back in 2016, and bought a little 2.5 acre homestead. He hasn't retired YET, which is why we are slowly building up our homestead.

I am *Household 6*. I home school our 8 y/o, take care of our 13 pullets, 2 dogs, 2 cats and various visiting family members. I had a pullet go broody recently, and am planning on setting her with eggs this weekend.

I have done some canning previously, but not enough to really be anything but a beginner. I have plans for a spring garden, which I hope to be able to grow enough to really get some stock built up.

This homestead has been my dream for many many years, so I am thrilled to be able to have it now. We are going to add pigs, possibly goats and definitely more chickens as time goes on.

Glad to be a part of this community, and found yet ANOTHER site that will burn more of my time, just like BYC does!!

Welcome from a fellow homesteader/homeschooler! Thanks to your husband for his service. My brother was stationed in Ft. Campbell a few years ago. Looking forward to chatting with you!

Your story and ours is very similar, except we're in North Alabama. I'm no longer homeschooling, but have done some in the past. We've got 2 acres, plus an acre of county easement. We also have chickens. DH is also still serving but we'll probably here for good now. So glad to have you here, and we're very familiar with the Ft. Campbell area. :)

Welcome from Texas. A lot of us here are canners. I finally bought a new pressure canner a few years ago, All American. It is awesome. I call it The Beast. It is heavy machined aluminum, has no gasket to wear out, the lid is bolted down. I love it. If you are going to buy a pressure canner, check out the All American.

And you'll want one of these too!
