I heard a talk once to do what you love and the money will follow.
Apparently I love various SS projects.
It took a good investment plus time to get my chicken project where it is, but it has since paid off. It pays faster if you have a big incubator and sell chicks rather than eggs.
The garden was hard work and required discipline, but it really keeps healthy food on the table. That doesn't get us rich, but it cuts down on what we have to dish out @ the store.
The bees were expensive to set up; although if we had it to do again, we could eliminate a lot of the money we spent, by doing things ourselves, but we are getting a return on it now.
The bartering is almost like a business in itself and we get much fresher, better tasting food than we can get in the grocery.
Nothing we do, alone could sustain us. And we do have jobs, outside the home, but our extra ventures certainly do add extra income, or at least sustainance to our home. When we combine all our extra things together, I can say that they are almost a extra little part-time career. And its what we do and what we are good at.
